1988 Tenth anniversary RX-7 in white. Dude was asking $2,000 and as near as I can tell it would need everything. Literally been sitting outside for a decade everything. It's a friend of mine who is interested in buying it to restore and turn into a HPDE machine (he loves rotaries, go figure).

I figured that a complete work over of the car would run 6 grand. The owner knows it needs everything and would take $1,000 for it.

Basically it's a complete car with a straight and rust free body (with terrible paint and a couple missing trim pieces). Would that be a worthwhile starting point for someone to turn into a track car, or hold out for something better? Is the 10th Anniversary edition worth saving?

If the body is in good shape then it doesn't sound like a bad starting point. But that's coming from the perspective of someone who would rather rebuild an engine than do 4 hours worth of interior or body work.

Straight and rust free = $

10AE is getting hard to find. I would hate to see that get the race car treatment. I would love to get my hands on that and restore it. I see those as doing nothing but going up in value.

If it's not rusty, I'd go for it. I'd try to spend as little as possible on a car that needful though. The elements take their toll. They looked good:

What's the engine condition? Needing a total rebuild?

Yea that sounds about right for straight and rust free. Getting hard to find FCs that haven't been dorifto-ed and banged off of lots of hard objects, or otherwise poorly modded and ruined.

You might also want to take a look at SVreX's car for sale in the classifieds, though.

In reply to Stampie: No battery, motor is free but no idea if it runs.

When I push the clutch down it stayed down, I'd want to take some time before attempting to start it.

How much does it cost to rebuild one of these? It can't be cheap like a SBC.

You can get them rebuilt for anywhere between 1200 to 3K+.

The AE has special glass that is worth big money. It is hard to find.

All of the little 10AE stuff will fetch good money if it is good shape.

Keep in mind, the 10 AE is just looks. Otherwise, it is a stock S4 Turbo II. Nothing THAT special about a 10 AE.
