Uh, NO! Cayenne's can have a laundry list of issues, most of them extremely expensive to fix. There's simply no way I'd buy one from a dealer without extensive service records and even then I wouldn't buy one with the mileage that one has. My old Cayenne turbo s decided to have either a very expensive internal engine issue or bad turbos at the same mileage, which basically mechanically totalled it.
what the Doc said.....run away.....now
This is the naturally aspirated V8 S model with steel coil spring suspension. No turbos, no air suspension. It's supposed to be the most reliable one. It's even port injection.

I'm in MD, just outside DC. So still close. Short answer, maybe. Shoot me a PM / email so we don't derail Javelin's thread.

I found the NA 4.5L engines to be reliable. The Air Ride one blew the front right bag at about 120K miles. Replacement wouldn't have been too bad, but I sold it unrepaired. Plastic coolant tubes were an issue on these, but by 138k miles it's probably either resolved or noticably leaking coolant on the top-rear of the engine. The plastic brake booster vacuum hose cracked on both of mine at the passenger side firewall. Vaccum leak caused a check engine light, I forget the code. Replacement/repair was not too hard.
I do not see a downside. Haha!

No. I passed. Drove great, interior had some issues but nothing deal breaking. It NEEDED tires (bald, dry rot cracked, and 2009) and a RF Litronics headlight. The deal breaker though was the milkshake in the oil cap...

Milkshake doesn't bring Javelin to the yard.

I see that you passed on it but those NA V8's had bore scoring issues. So they were far from reliable motors...

Suffice it to say all Porsche engines of that vintage have bore scoring issues. Also it may still be unresolved for the new engines, but only time will tell.

Maybe you should've offered $2222 or $4444?

What doesn't have mayo in the oil cap this time of year?
I mean sure, oil cap milkshake could just mean condensation in the oil cap.
You should still buy it... so we can watch what happens.

Nah it had the stench of coolant, too. Was avocado green colored and the consistency of cake frosting.

How is this not more upvoted?
I bought a 28-year-old 200+k mile Porsche from a very...um..."country guy" who referred to it as a "nine hundred twenty four" and said he commuted in it it to his mining job until "the air conditioner stopped working" (it just needed a recharge) and left it sitting in his yard for the week before I bought it, with a window down, during a torrential downpour and it had a foot of water inside (thank goodness for galvanized body). I guarantee there was no other Porsche (or probably any German car) within 100 miles of his house. Nothing but old American pickups and Chevy Cavaliers. It was surreal.
It is now the favorite car I've ever owned, by a large margin.
So yes, yes you should buy a 16-year old Porsche in a snowstorm.
