8/10ths of a BMW with 1/10 of the maintenance, right? Anyway, here's my latest acquisition. A 2004 Infiniti G35 6MT Sedan. I scooped it up with 181,000 km on the clock for $4800. So far, it's been great. The shifter's crazy notchy, but the car is incredibly difficult to stall. The Bose stereo is great, and everything works like a dream!

It even shined up really well! (And with $45 wax, it better have cheeky).

So yeah. This one's just going to be a reliable daily, but those criteria don't necessarily facilitate buying a boring car.

a) Thanks!

b) Well, when a deal pops up...

c) The non-RevUp models don't benefit from the manifold spacer nearly as much as the RevUp cars, and I already have a plan for wheels but it involves saving up (A set of 19" Rays forged wheels from a 370Z would look mega).

Definitely faster and more stylish than the Vic!! Good deal. Enjoy it!

For some reason I was always under the impression that the sedans were auto-only.

Find the z tube mod among other bits.  There is nice oem+ horsepower available.  These are the lightest of the available platforms meaning they are pretty quick.  There are some cool Track edition wheels that Rays put on the 350z.  From memory they were one of the lightest setups out there.

It's already got a Z-tube and a Stillen intake! I know exactly which wheels you're talking about, they look sorta like VS-KFs in a way, right?

Looks like it has some lowering springs as well?  Great looking car!

I've had 2 of them.  They'll take a beating with zero complaints.

MT sedans are rare, but they exist. I believe they all have that spoiler.

Looking good. My G37 has been nothing but great in the 3 years I've owned it. It's a good platform and makes for a fun to drive car that you can drive all day long.

Good find! Manual, RWD, decently powerful engine, what's not to love? Just be careful with modifying it, it's very easy to cross over from tasteful to ricey with these cars.

I have great interest in this thread. A G35 sedan MT6 is on the short list to replace my e28 M5.

Would the hive say these drive more like a GT or a sports car? Also are suspension mods widely available? how about n/a engine mods? I love forced induction but I find it highly cost prohibitive.

Is this a car that if I found one with under a hundred thousand miles on the odo, would last me 10 to 15 years without major repairs provided the car was well maintained when I bought it?

This will possibly be the last car I buy that MUST have four doors and seating for four adults and I want something that is a blast to drive thats not going to appreciate so I can drive it without worrying about mileage and wear.

Awesome car. Can't say I've ever seen one with a 6MT.

Very nice detailing work!

I came very close to choosing one of those several years ago. I really liked it in the test drive.

The AWD were auto only. I had a G35x and the auto killed it for me. it was fun, quick, sounded good with a resonator from a 350Z installed.

I find my G37 as a lot more of a GT car. There are some suspension updates available. Most of them are more for stance than track though. There is not a lot of NA mods that really make $$ per HP sense at least on the G37.

1: G35s are more like sports cars. They're a little too sharp and high-strung to be real GTs.

2: Suspension mods are highly available. Hell, even a 350Z angle kit bolts up to a RWD G35.

3: A 5/16" plenum spacer has been documented to add 10 WHP (!) for $125 (!!) without needing a tune (!!!). RevUp engines have the MRev lower plenum for more power, and a proper intake and non-resonated zip tube make more of a difference than most people think.

4: I'd say so. It's regarded as 9/10ths of a 330i with 1/10th the maintenance cost.

Thanks G_Body_Man and BMW88rider.

As raw as the M5 is it is definitely a GT,  and I'm wanting a sharper edge this time.

One month (and 3,000km of road trips and mid-strike meetups) update!

Pros:

-Enough cojones to make merging effortless.

-The chassis is totally E46 330i levels of good with the coilovers. Maybe even better.

-All it has needed is regular maintenance. Change the oil, check the fluids, check tire pressures.

-Fuel economy has been surprisingly good. I've been averaging 26 US MPG in mixed driving, even when shifting at 3k around town.

-Interior fit-and-finish is still really good.

-Visibility is excellent.

-Not only does the vLSD still work, it's definitely helpful in slippery conditions.

-Auto climate control simply rules

-Heated leather seats are a blessing

Cons:

-the dual-mass flywheel still feels kinda weird

-all the cupholders are either small or in a weird location

-the seats aren't the most comfortable, nor do they have the best bolstering

-steering feel is sometimes slightly inconsistent in the cold (a bit strange, but there's no play, binding, noise or leaks from any component so there's not much I can do)

-for some reason the speakers in the driver's door seem to cut out sometimes in the cold.

Honestly, I'd recommend a 6MT sedan to just about any enthusiast. If you want everything nice about the first gen Mazda 6 in a RWD car, this is it.
