I was in a 7-11 gas station in Podunk, Maine yesterday, when... porsche content.

This pulled in...

The owner was a scraggly bearded frail hippy looking dude. Super nice. Apparently he's the second owner, and had the car completely restored, including the engine, from a former RUF technician who now lives in Florida.

Just a spectacular car in person, and I felt a little starstruck to be in its presence to be honest. Low miles, not original color though... but he said it puts out 370hp and weighs in right at 2100#. I'm not a porsche purist, so I have no idea if he was blowing smoke up my bum or not, but I do know that the car was pristine inside and out. I got to sit in it. Was pretty berkeleying awesome in that vintage antique 'berkeley You, I'm a 70's supercar and give no berkeleys' kind of way. So simple, yet so badass at the same time. Made me instantly want it.

What is something like this worth? He said it was a '77. I have a motor pic, but it won't upload .

Ruf took the 930 over 400hp, so he may not have been fibbing. How did you like the noise it made? (that's my second favorite part).

Purposeful. That's the word that comes to my mind. Nothing that isn't needed, only things added are to make it faster/safer/work better. Love it.

It was almost indescribable. I heard it coming from wayyyy down the road, and knew it was something special. Hard to explain. Guttural, primal, raspy without being annoying. Intimidating... It was epic.

That's really cool. Love me some ac 911s. I have a few 911s and look like the exact opposite of what people think a 911 driver should look like....I get some funny comments when people see me driving then I get out.

Yeah, that's special. Way more epic than any modern Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo or whatever, in my opinion.

The passenger rearview mirror is artistry as is the proper wale tail!
Look how huge the "economy car" is to the left and what little you can see of the car on the right seems enormous (my guess: recent Mitsu Galant.)

oh, it was TINY. It was the first thing that struck me was how small the car really was. But yes, whale tail for DAYSSSS.

Rhetorical question- there is legitimately no road in Maine (or New England for that matter) that does not have rim destroying potholes this time of year. It's awful. A buddy of mine went through 2 tires and wheels in a week on his E46 last week...

The whale tail doesn't leave room underneath for an intercooler. The Yellowbird got 469 HP from 3.4 liters and the intercoolers were behind the NACA ducts in the rear fenders. You can probably get 370 HP at the crank from a 3.3 liter in a full race build, e.g. 10.3 compression, twin plug, race exhaust, race gas. Porsche got 330 HP in the 3.0 RSR back in the day. You can build a 3.6 out to 3.8 liters and get 370 HP, I'm sure, but I bet it would still be more "race" than "street." With only 2100# that would be a rocket sled. MY kinda rocket sled.

It sounded racey for sure. It was lopey, and unlike any 911's I've heard before at the track... I guess lopey isnt a technical word, but that's how I'd describe it. Still working on the engine shot...

Oh my. I am not a porkker fan but that... works. you just know it's an absolute riot to drive.

Looks like some 964 parts made there way onto the front. Not a bad thing, very cool car!

My 85 Targa weighs right at 3k with all fluids and 3/4s of a tank of gas...it does not have a whale tail but does have power windows and AC. I have not weighed the 87 930 yet or 993, but I'm sure they're both heavier. I think 2100lbs is a really low number especially seeing at least a partial cage, but honestly I think most weights people quote for their cars are bs.

you mean the tail on that car or a whale tail in general? The whale tail on my 930 hides a pretty large intercooler.

Yep. Small and potent. Just how things should be in the sports car world. I think it's a Taurus on the right.........it's huge whatever. Awesome find!!!
