The internet seems to use the same list of engine weights on every site, just copied from one to another. I actually weighed my LM4 engine with bathroom scales and deducted 50 lb for the engine stand. I got that stand weight from Harbor Freight. With the intake, alternator, power steering pump, serpentine belt, flex plate, the goofy pass through oil pan and a set of shorty headers it's 390 lb. Just thought you ought to know.
Bathroom scales really can be off especially as you approach its upper limits. I’ve found placement of load center affects my set. I use a set of 4 to scale my race cars.
In addition to be fair you should actually weigh your stand. Sometimes those weights can be shipping weight ( including packaging) or average weights etc.
are we fat shaming engines?

One set on each end, so they were both around 200 lb. I'll weigh the stand when I put the engine into the chassis, just so I have some idea of where to place it and what the total weight of the car might be. I'm weighing everything ahead of installation.......just for science.

Actually, I consider my LM4 to be rather svelte and sexy.

We should always fat shame engines. Also, we should never believe anything harbor freight tells us.
If I recall, a fully dressed 4AGE 20V comes in right at 300. I think I weighed a 3SGTE and it wasn't much more.
In reply to DeadSkunk (Warren) :
I’m not saying that your weights are wrong, and hopefully not being too nit picking but the more precise we can be the better.
Vorshlag Motorsports has posted pictures of several engines on scales. They got a Miata motor at 348, so an LS at 390 is pretty good. I'll weigh it again after I get a different oil pan and intake on it.
Thought it was an iron block for a second and got excited.
Still not too bad of a weight.

AWESOME thanks for taking the weight and sharing.
The LM4 is from Trailblazer--Envoy-Rainier right?
Got any pics of the engine being weighed and what are you putting it in? Celica?
In reply to FuzzWuzzy :
I waited for quite awhile to find an aluminum block engine. I wanted the 85 lb reduction the internet says exists.

I got an iron LQ9 for the LeMans. It is around 470.... which is nearly an entire 4AGE lighter than the 326 currently in it. Last Pontiac motor I shipped with accessories came in at 748 lbs. (including the 20 lbs or so for the pallet)

So... Can we stop believing that an iron-block 350 SBC weighs 350lbs now?
In reply to Indy-Guy :
It's from a 2003 Trailblazer-EXT. I didn't take pictures when I weighed it. I'll be attempting to cram it back beneath the windshield of a TE27 Corolla body. I'm getting a C5 Vette oil pan, and I still need to source an LS1 intake because it's way too tall as it's configured in a truck.

But Santa said it's so, so it must be..............mustn't it?

I guess the good news is I still weigh less than a V8.

That is close to 200lb less than a small block Chevy.
This youtube video weighed one and got 470lbs, just the long block was 420.

I weigh my engines (find my thread..) using a hanging scale, and confirmed it was right by loading 60lb bags of cement on it.
