No one has chosen AMC? Hornet and Matador?

They already made that movie...

'63 Riv wasn't exactly slow, either.  I don't remember seeing a Blower Bentley going around corners very well either.

I could see an Olds Toronado.

Or a GTO.  But they already made that movie.

I've never understood the idea that an international spy would want to stand out and drive a flashy car.  In reality, he would want to blend in with the crowd.  He would drive something that could disappear into traffic, not a supercar.

It's pretty well established that movie Bond is the worst "secret" agent ever. Literally everyone knows who he is. laugh

Fun fact: Burt Reynolds was offered the role of Bond when Connery quit, but turned it down.

I'll go with Corvair Monza spyder. It's interesting but not over stated.

He'd be Walker Texas Ranger then, and thus drive a silver Ram.

Jensen Interceptor

Yup - an FF (four wheel drive) with SP engine (440 sixpack) fitted to it.  I drove the lighter Jensen CV8 for years with a sixpack and it was a killer (007) combination!

From the original bond period I think these 3 would be the best choices

Umm...

Jensen Interceptor is British!

The answer is definitely Corvette- he would have started with a '63 split rear window, and would have eventually been driving a C8.

Corvette or Thunderbird.

Is that true about Burt Reynolds? Was he gonna do an accent?!

What happened to the anti-heroes?  They seem to have all sadly vanished.

The F-85 Jetfire!

It makes perfect sense! Looks like everything else- kinda- but it's engine makes weird noises and the roof lines are all off. He needs the good E36 M3 at stations- heck, he only goes to one kind- and you could have it pull on nearly everything else, so long as it doesn't leak or blow a seal. Or run out of methanol injection. Or knock.

Nailed it. And now I have to build the Riv 1/25 scale kit I have at home. Bond style though.

"Anything with a back seat is ruled out" would conflict with almost anything Flemming wrote him into.

I almost suggested Avanti but the Riv just makes too much sense.  Does Bond ever drive an E-type in any of the books or movies?  If not, I don't see him in a Corvette, either.

I don't remember which Bond novel it was, but Fleming had him in a "Studillac" that I think belonged to Felix Leighter...    Strangely that fits.

EDIT: I wasn't hallucinating...

Nah. James Bond is British because Flemming wrote him. Because James Bond is British, he acts in certain ways, has certain tastes, etc.

If James Bond was American, it wouldn't be the same character with a different nationality. There'd be more different culturally, more brashness, more "America, berkeley yeah!" and *that's* why he'd be in a Corvette. Like I said, the astronauts didn't drive Rivieras. They were gifted Corvettes. Assuming his identity is just as public as the English version, American James Bond would be a HUGE marketing opportunity.
