This is pretty crazy. 4 days left on the auction and it's already over 30k. This is almost like the 911 craze from a couple years ago.

I just wish I could figure out what's going to be next.

And it isn't even championship white. 97-98 ones will be the big money ones someday.

I have a low-mileage Integra. So far from being a Type-R it has 4 doors!

If I could get 15% of the current bid, I'd be ecstatic!

Maybe a rising tide lifts all boats?

They were rare when new and a clean stock one is even rarer now. I believe there was one last year that hit 50 on ebay last year.

Its like muscle cars that start climbing in the 80s and 90s. Kids that wanted these 20 years ago are now in jobs where they can buy the things they lusted after.

Thats why I am stocking up on mint Pogs. Gonna ride that wave!

No surprise here. So many of them got stolen, chopped up, and wrecked. It's a halo car for that generation. Sits up there with twin turbo supra.

I know where there's a low-mile, one-owner Type-R that stock except for A/C and mods to make it a (then) Solo2 Stock Class championship winning car. I asked several years ago, but she wouldn't sell it.

It was just a matter of time before it happened as Logdog said.

I'm waiting for one of the Japanese bubble tuner demo cars from the 90s (Veilside, RE Amemiya, HKS, Top Secret) to come up for sale to see how insane the bidding gets.

How long will this last though? Once we can import from Japan it'll settle down some. Don't get me wrong, the ITR will always be overpriced.

If I had the money to snag a clean Type R I would do it. I always wanted one and they are just going to keep going up. I will probably kick myself for not buying one with a loan today once they reach Hemi Cuda prices in 15-20 years.

It's just an Integra. The other 90s JDM machines are a little more valuable, IMO.

If that was a GPW we would be seeing the first 50K Type-R. Bet it brings over 40K.

It is just an Integra like a GT350 is just a Mustang, or a GNX is just a Regal/T-Type, or an RS is just a 911.

Even bone stock (or maybe especially bone stock) they are awesome cars, hand built engines, a wonderful driving experience, and greater than the sum of their parts.

This impart of the reason I bought a '91 MR2. Japanese cars of that era are on the climb. The Japanese built some cars from the mid '80s through the mid '90s that we've not really seen the likes of since then (MR2, CRX, Civic Si, Supra, NSX, Starion, Eclipse, etc.). People that were young and broke and wanted those cars when they were new now have a little money to play with.

I made good money on my MR2 I sold last year. It was a 100% clean rust free Austin original car that was 99% stock. Owned it for 2 years and sold it for 20% more than I paid. It ended up in Michigan. I would buy a 97 talon AWD in a heartbeat if I found a clean one but shoot, I haven't even seen one period in years.

I guess I never realized there was an actual type R something. I guess I always thought type R meant someone shopping at Pep Boys for stick on hp made by APC.

You are looking at this the wrong way. Forget "What is next but new now" because you have to not only have the foresight to know, but you also have to sit on it for 30 years while taking care of it and not driving it.

"What's next" cars are cars that people bought back in the day to reward themselves or show off to their friends. They were cherished cars that got limited use and are now either owned by widows or forgotten with the onset of Alzheimers. Your challenge is to find these stashed goods, have the cash in your pocket to buy them on the spot and flip them for a pre-determined profit.

I'm still waiting for baby boomers to start liquidating their collections so muscle car prices start to drop.

But yeah... kinda kicking myself for not buying an essentially stock (was set up for D-Stock) '96 ITR for about $9K a few years ago. He had it for sale for awhile too. By the time I said, "eff it, I should buy that..." it was sold.

I'm by no means a Honda guy---- but the Integra Type R is a special car. They were sharply focused, and aimed directly at us. The GT-350 reference is apt. By today's standards they aren't all that fast, but they offer a more visceral driving experience than anything you can buy today.

In a couple of years $30K will seem cheap. This was Honda's peak, as far as enthusiast machinery is concerned. The ITR and the NSX were Honda's pinnacle.

I would say CRX has potential to shoot up, but they made a lot more of them then something like the Type R so it is very unlikely to reach as high.
