I loved my Grand Marquis. Mine was 1995 GS that my mom gave to me when she got a new car in 2005. It had 45,000 miles on it. When I finally gave it to my brother in 2011 when I got a new car, it had 165,000. Just a tank tank tank. And mid-20s mpg was very achievable.

The only thing I ever hated about it was made to break your neck headrests. They just do not go up high enough.

In the immortal words of Sir Richard Hammond... Go ugly early. Good way to guarantee yourself a girl (and a car). The other guys will be waiting for the hot girl (car) and end up going home alone.

Here you go

Then again, I have been known to date beautiful basket cases before the current SO, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

EDIT: Did no one seriously say Miata? In that case, miata

My truck..... Calling my F100 fat?

That's right, a pickup truck with a big block l, vinyl top, C6 and full trim weighs 4,200 lbs and your calling her fat when a stock Crown Vic weighs 3,900?

And my Met weighs 2,200.... I think I'm allowed to pull fatties as long as I keep a hotty at home. Haha

I would have gone with another Mazda product for my dd if I had the money. Instead I have to make the 5 mile trek to work everyday with a chevy V-8 rumbling me there.

ATX born and raised! Didn't we have a conversation over email about your healthy obsession with Chrysler K-cars?

Yes we did. I'm just being forgetful/dumb.

There are six under 6k on my local CL.

It's given me a lot of problems, so I probably wouldn't buy another Nissan. Lets see.. I've restored a Nova before so I sort of have a soft spot for something with some power, same side though I don't like low riding cars so MIatas and stuff like that are out of the question. I like something that I feel safe in, like if I hit or got hit I would be A OK. There is something to be said for a reliable four door car like a pruis with good mpg. I don't drive much though now adays actually.

newest 2wd shortbed regular cab 5.3 chevy truck you can find. LSx power, don't drive much so you do not need 45 mpg.

You can absolutely find an E46 in that price range. I bought mine for $4000 with 177k miles, and only pulled the trigger because it's in really good shape. I've since put over 5000 miles on it in the past two months, and I absolutely love the damn thing. It's perfect for what I need (30+ highway miles in heavy traffic each way), and is incredibly fun to drive. It sees redline once a day, and never complains. I've had to replace some goofy things, but everything I've worked on has been surprisingly easy. It'll break 30mpg @ 80mph on the highway, all while being extremely comfortable.

So yeah. I've become a huge E46 fanboi for the sub-$8k daily market.

I guess tough to find clean w/100k miles is more precise. The few under 6k (cnj.craigslist.org and surrounding) are either crashed or have 150-200k miles. Stopped by a local used place to look at an '04. $11k ask. Mismatched tires, scraped up wheels, one new headlight from a crash.

OTOH, I've learned that the cars make for really straightforward LSx swaps...

For those of you thinking about is300's, these are the ones I found locally to me in 10 mins, on one pg of craigslist. Any time you're searching for cars in that price range (or any other), I'd check them out really carefully but they're certainly around for this money with around 100k on em. If you were patient and discriminating, you can have a really nice one for 6k. There was even one with a big single 2jzgtte swap for 12kbo on the same page, seems about low average for gtte swapped ones. If you were looking for a practical supra alternative that's serious value. The cream of the crop with heavy mods are in the mid to upper teens now mostly.

Might be closing a deal on a vic this weekend. '04 LX Sport in dark grey monochromatic paint, 80k miles, owned by an old couple. Going to have my mechanic friend put it up on some jacks and look it over before I say yes. Hopefully can talk them further down and leave $1,500 under my budget or so. Although I'm not as talented at low balling like some people are here :P

It's a pretty color car and combo stock

Your looking for a car at least 8yo that has traveled less than 34 miles per day average. Yeah, that's gonna be very tough to do at 6k. My DD is 8yo and has 243k on it.

I plan on taking this vic to 200k +. Might be some trouble because it's an american car, but I'm going to try to be more pro active than I was with my Nissan.
