EDIT: I decided to make this thread about any type of event going on in Illinois, since we have people from all over.

Is anyone involved in Rallycross? I have looked at all the SCCA divisions near me including Indiana and nobody does it or at least doesn't have a person "in charge" of it, so there are no events.

I would really like to get involved in some Rallycross at some point.

I heard a rumor about Chicago region starting a program, but nothing concrete yet.

What I know:

www.indianarallycross.com

www.w-a-g.org/

And LaCrosse region runs events.

I hope more events pop up closer to home!

Central Illinois Region currently has some general organizational issues, but if those get straitened out I may try to spearhead a rallycross program. In the meantime, Indy Region SCCA certainly has an active rallycross program. I believe Ft Wayne Region does as well.

I'm sure StL wouldn't reject you. Be a nice drive to and fro...

I really don't want to have to drive more than 2 hours to an event.

I looked at Central Illinois Region's website and they have somebody who is in charge, but there are no events.

There are several Autocross events by different clubs around me within 2 hours, but I'm not interested in Autocross, I'm interested in Rallycross.

I'm in the same boat, but I go both ways.

I just figured, for giggles, I'd show up at an Autocross and say, "Hi, I'm a RallyCrosser but I'll be Autocrossing today.".

There's a test and tune in Rantoul this weekend.

I don't have anything to race at the moment, either. I'm thinking of taking the kids just to spectate and have a picnic of sorts.

Well that would be interesting, but if it's on Saturday I have to work. Well E36 M3, Sunday's shot too, because I need to start packing up this house.

Saturday is the school which is all filled up. Sunday is the test'n'tune.

I'll be at the school instructing (or rather, hoping that they have enough instructors that I don't need to) and I hope to be at the test'n'tune as well but probably will not make it.

I want rally cross as well. What am I to do with an AMC Eagle if I can't rip around in the dirt?

I remember reading about mid west rallycross and saying, "Way-way-wait? We have rallycross?" I, too, am interested.

I hosted a few rallyx events in CIR back around the early/mid 90's. They were a blast, but we never really had a good site - everything either turned to mud, or a dust storm.

I now know of a potentially awesome site(finely ground cinder), but its been overgrown for years and would take a few days of mowing & grading to get in shape. I know the owner pretty well, and while I've not mentioned the idea to him, I think he would be receptive. It's a 1/2-mile from me, so that would be 2-hours from Chicago, 1.5-hours from Indy,

And most importantly, about an hour from me. If the idea gets any momentum and you need help in the summer with something I am willing help in July and August.

Well if you're in Rossville, Watseka takes an hour for me, and Rossville is another 30 minutes from there, so that would be in my time range. It would be even closer if I move to Chebanse.

I too like Jed wish there were something closer, but I will take what I can get.

Peoria sucks...I wish it didn't.

Given the size of the town, there should be a RallyCross program or AT LEAST Solo2 within 30 or so miles.

I guess I need to troll the local enthusiast sites...

Yeah do that, my cousins ex-boyfriend is huge in the Chicagoland Audi Club and he always is going to AutoX events that the club holds. They are never close, but he has the time and money to go. I however do not.

There may not be SCCA stuff, but car clubs may hold stuff.

Out here there are plenty of places to go do an RallyX and I'm surprised no one has done it yet.

Chicago BMW club also has a lot of autocross events (or at least they did 5 years ago).

I would definitely attend a Rally X if it was somewhat close to me.

There used to be an active club that held autocrosses almost monthly at ICC. Iirc, they lost use of the site and never found another. I went to quite a few events there.
