Justin...when is this trek? If you're coming down I-55 through Jackson , Mississippi you will pass within 2 miles of my house. If we're here you're welcome to crash here
If you're coming through central AR on I-40 I can offer a place to stay, a meal, etc. Sounds like you're planning to be well east of me before you stop for the night though.
Last Braum's you'll hit is at Alma, AR.
If you're taking 530/65 south out of Little Rock, be aware there's a lot of construction going through Pine Bluff. Also, pretty much everything between Grady and Lake Village is a speed trap.
When I went to Biloxi this past spring, it seemed that it was pretty well solid orange barrels and construction from Yazoo City to Hattiesburg.
Good luck!
PM me if you want my info.

Okay. I just looked at the two different routes from Tulsa to Madison Mississippi. The shorter route takes you on a lot of back roads through the Arkansas and Mississippi Delta and a lot of small towns you got to go through. Distance is shown as 525 miles. The other route is to go to Memphis and then hit I-55 South in Memphis straight shot down to Madison Mississippi. Although longer at about 590 MI it's only 30 minutes longer in travel time due to all the interstate and not running through small towns in the delta. Shorter route through the back roads says 8 hours 10 minutes travel time. Longer route through Memphis and all the interstate shows travel time at about 8 hours 40 minutes. So it depends on what kind of driving you want to do.
All the times I went through Memphis to drive to Tulsa but on all those trips and I was towing a race car and trailer headed to Hallett race track so I preferred the interstate. Call me and we can discuss. Either way you're going to pass right by my house

It's OK, the driving roads in NE OK/SW MO/NW AR are FAR superior in terms of fun.
But you seem to be wanting to get back ASAP vs taking your time a bit.
But if you're going to go that way, when you hit 51 going south, take it over to Hulbert, the road between there and Ft Gibson is a riot. And it only takes you a little bit off the fastest route to Talihina.

Ok, I think this is my Day 1 route. Thank you for those who contributed:
Also, Thank you to Ovid and Flem for the place to crash tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to having a couple of beers and talking cars.
Ideally I can get out of Tulsa by 11AM. Goal will be to hit a couple good roads on the way to Madison, MS. Now I just need to figure out Day 2.
I would still go ahead and hit Talimena drive since you'll be that way. That's the only thing I would change to your proposed route.
It's just more wide open, quick pace, scenic, vs the area I was talking about that has a lot more tight/intriguing stuff.

yeah, that is what I learned after dong some more research. I cut the Talimena Drive because it is a little too far west and I would like to spend the extra hour with "Ovid and Flem" in the evening.

Having spent an evening or two with him, it'll be interesting.
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and take that as a left-handed compliment. LOL
I have relatives down near O&F. If I got down there I would love to look him up. I can assure that you will get a heaping helping of hospitality. I'll bet you get fed really well and end up as drunk as you want to be!
This is intended to be a straight up recommendation and a compliment of the highest level.
Of course, see the 911. Yeah!
Seriously watch your speed between Grady and Lake Village, that's the route of all the Gulf Shores/Biloxi traffic take. There's at least 5 unmarked local and state patrol cars that work that stretch pretty heavy. If you've got out of state or paper tags, you're a target.
Speed limit drops to 45 MPH through Gould, and 46 MPH will get you stopped.
Make sure the top is up and the A/C is on recirculate when you go through Pine Bluff, there's like 3 paper mills there.
Just added Miata to my insurance, printed all the necessary OK/FL transfer of title and bill of sale forms, and I have the certified check in hand for the balance due... Things are beginning to feel very real.

I would love to do tail of the Dragon! However, it does add 4 hours of drive time. I will need to think that one through.
72 hours for a 24 hour drive?...
Get codriver. Get car. Get gas. Get moving straight through to Robbinsville. Get Dragon slayin'. Get giggly. Get home.
It's 5am EST. I'm at the airport waiting for my first flight to OK.
system check on pictures from phone is a go...
