motor is mostly painted. water pump and carbd intake gettiong painted now. color is cast coat iron, bolts will be black. valve convers, air cleaner, and accrssoried will be wrinkle black, with polished button head hardware. also need to find an AC compressor, crank pulley, and ALL the bolts for the accessory drive, a flexplate for the c4, a dipstick, and a waterneck. not too bad, just a lot of small stuff.

see, i promised is post pics....

In reply to Karl La Follette:

Hate to clutter this thread up, but the difference is TFI vs Non-TFI. Just run the non-EFI driveshaft to run the new dizzy.

its not really clutteriong, as i believe i will run into the same problem in the very near future.

can you change out the driveshaft with the oil pump and pan on? i have to pull the intake anyway, so if i can change it frm the lifter valley then would be the time.

and this should go for all EFI to carb 302 conversions, right?

If the engine's never been apart, the spring clip on the pump shaft is probably still there and the oil pan will need to come off. If it's been apart, there's a fair chance the clip didn't make it back in. Pull the distributor and stick a magnet down to grab the shaft - if it comes up, great. If not, oil pan...

ordered a bunch of parts from summit tonight. just to let you kow, they have a distribiutor with a steel gear, hei style, for 139. according to the tech guy, the longer and shorter body distributors anre interchangable without changing the oil pump driveshaft.

on a side note, i snapped two of the end intake bolts removing the efi intake today. thats gonna be fun to remove....

so ive spent the last week all but killing myself in preparation for last night. got the broken bolts drilled out and helicoiled, went to pull-a-part for a crank pulley and compressor. bout a metric E36 M3ton of bolts from tractor supply (they sell them by the pound). got it all painted up, carbed intake and summit distributor in. tranny got here, cleaned, and painted.

1954 ford frame shot in semigloss black,

last night, my best friend and i mated the engine and transmission, and dropped it between the framerails. the speedway mounts went great. also started painting the accesories wrinkle black.

id put pictyures up, but my personal laptop hhas crapped out, and the extended warenty i bought from best buy apparently doesnt cover crap. so im using my work laptop which is IT nazi'd to death to so personal stuff at the moment. when i get my operating system wiped and reinstalled, ill throw some pictures back up.

still no computer, but started on the brakes last night. i love taking cut off wheels and griners to BRAND NEW parts to make them fit.....

and the cast iron/wrinkle black/corrosion resistant green color combo is looking great. may have to redo my duster's engine now......

pictures. still have all the hard lines to do, the fuel system to build, finish the plug wires, install steering box and headers, and test fire. coming down the home stretch. should be under 12 inches total of rubber line in vacuum, trans cooler, and fuel systems. cant say that for brakes and heating/cooling though.

i love being ocd.

and sorry for the crappy, hotlinked pics. took them with my phone, as my real camera is not functional yet, though my laptop is again.

so I'm horrible with taking finished pictures before stuff leaves. just take a look at these, mentally make it much cleaner and nicer from not having sat under a carport for to years, and remove the body and you have how it left.

up first is getting it running. need to hear it run.

have a champion radiator coming, as well as a battery tray. ill find some radiator hoses, temp ire it, prime the carb, and see what happens. after I change the starter and replace all the broken off spark plugs from one of the guys at the body shop installing the headers. you can also see ho my color combo worked out, and the Toyota power steering conversion that did not want to fit.
