There is/was a car for sale on the 'bay that was actually featured in GRM a couple of years back. Stumbled across it last night, emailed the seller, still waiting to hear back from him but the listing ended in the meantime
.
Let's hope he'll still get back to me, even the wife approves although it's anything but a practical car.
Forgot to mention that, didn't I?
Maxton Rollerskate #30.
Dang. That car is awesome.

I think I still have original sales literature from Maxton. I remember writing to them in 1989. That was going to be the greatest sports car ever. Moments later, the Miata was introduced...
Steve (Aussie SMG) and I crawled all over that at The Mitty a couple years ago. More fun than a barrel full of monkeys, though there was an issue with the distributor hookup IIRC, likely fixed since then, but just figured I would share it. The owner said that it lost power above mid RPM's
Well, it's back on ebay again. Let's see if he gets back to me this time.
@mistainfo, thanks for the info, if he ever gets back to me I'll ask him about that.
That thing looks awesome. I know it's a collector car, but I don't understand how people can own such an awesome car and resist the urge to drive it!
Seems like a lot of car for 14500..
He's listed it on ATL CL for $14k. Got a response this time, going to ask a few more questions and then will see how it goes.
I would love me a rollerskate. The Miata might be a better car.. but the Maxton has more character and is probably more fun
If the weather protection on a Rollerskate is as seven-esque as I suspect it is, the Miata is definitely a better car.
But then again, I've had a hankering for a Seven for a while after driving one in the UK and I actually think the Maxton is even cooler.
and everyone knows what a Miata is.. Nobody has ever seen a Maxton.. and you can take great pride in telling people that "no, it's not a kit car" and that they only made about 50 of them
Did I mention that I'm a sucker for rare vehicles? One of my not-very-valuable classic motorcycles is one of less of a hundred made (exact number unknown) with three known survivors.
This just popped up on Philly Craigslist NMNA:

I might contact him just to see it.
The text from his ad sounds very familiar, I think it was listed before, within the last year or so?
