But RHD is cool.

They're kinda neat from an engineering perspective. Yeah, an Elise is probably a better car but that's never stopped anybody on this board.
I don't think GTM really survived the financial crisis even though they were bought by Westfield. I don't think you can get new kits anymore. Plus of course the fun over here would be to find an engine that fits as the car as it's designed around Rover's K series (the V6 IIRC).
One sign that I've lived in the UK long enough/too long is clearly that I am missing the thriving kit car and specialist car shed industry.
among other kei cars
a hydrogen powered one would be cool. I could say "hey look, a car can be 'green' and not look like a toaster! It also doesn't need 1,000 lbs of batteries!" Too bad it makes half the power on hydrogen...
Maybe get 2 of them and sandwich the engines together 4 rotor style?
Always liked the older ones.
^ I want an Evo II RS in a bad way. No spoiler. 5 more years. That and a European Accord Type-R. I'll take a European WJ Diesel, too.

For an occasional use toy? Absolutely. I wouldn't want my Mini any other way. For a car I'd use for daily-driving? Yes - RHD would probably get tedious at times. Especially in a car that's wider than a Mini (which is pretty much anything).

I never knew these were out there (and can't really do much now that I do know), but....dang.... Amazing how that body has stood the test of time -even down to the no-hatch back if I'm seeing it correctly.
Sorry for the interruption of what we can import today. I'd like an older Escort, please. Too bad they are RHD. :(
If I could Import anything. Wow that is a great question. Some really remarkable and different options have already been thrown out there.
Just because it is different and almost reliable. Lada Granata WTCC or the Original Ruf Yellow Bird

Is that back window taped on? [zooms in on picture] yep, that window is taped on. Looking good.

Stay classy, Morgan.

Yes, this. This would be a very good choice.
BUT, regular folk would think you're just a yuppy driving a 911.

I don't get it... it's an old TVR with some body-mods... I see those all the time.
No, the rear glass doesn't open, although a couple of owners have made it into a hatch.
BoxheadTim wrote:nderwater wrote: Hmm, looks like some of these are already legal for import. Some of them are, I was looking into that last year. The problem is that legal ones that don't need a ton of work are hard to find. Most people I know in the UK who bought a Se7en of that age ended taking it to bits and redoing the car.
The Seven has been around for what, 50 years? There are a LOT of them that are legal to import.
But all of these cars are 25 years old. So they're all going to be dealing with the problems of 25 year old cars, especially the ones that have dropped in price and are 25 year old beaters. The nice thing about the Seven is that you CAN rebuild it.
As for me, I'm not lusting too hard over cars that are coming up. But if I had to choose...
bastomatic wrote: Actually, I know exactly what I would want. An Avantime.
Should be able to get it cheap, I think you're the only one who wants one. But if I needed a minivan, I think it would be near the top of the list just for the crazy.

No, it's a brand new car that is styled like an old TVR. Read the link. This is an ultra-high performance car with build quality far exceeding the original TVR's. And with 947 of them built over a 5 year period, I don't think you see TVR 2500M's "all the time". I've owned two, and they are pretty hard to find, actually. In any case, this is not a TVR, it just borrows some styling from it. I hear people all the time saying they wish car makers would make a new car that just looks like the old ones, instead of the retro styling they do now. For TVR fans this is that car. And no TVR ever did 0-60 in 3.8 seconds.
I live near the TVR club organizers, so as British cars go I actually do see 2500M's fairly often. I used to ride my bike past the TVR dealer in Langhorne, PA back in the 80's on the way to the R/C shop.
No... I didn't read the link... I just saw a TVR and lost interest.
Hell... importing one of those would be easy: bring it over in pieces, assemble it under an existing 2500M shell/VIN and nobody would be the wiser...
Near the TVR club organizers? Well the club officers are spread out all over the country, but I assume you mean that you live near the president, Tony Hess (we're a pretty tight knit group)? I think he's got two TVR's, neither of which is the "M" model that the Titan is styled after. So when you say you see them "All the time", you mean you see the same two non-M TVR's all the time. Gotcha.

Yeah, just like you can register a Cobra kit car as an original!
There's a TVR that looks VERY much like that in town. I'm not sure that's TVR's best work, styling-wise.
bravenrace wrote:Ian F wrote: No... I didn't read...as I didn't give a flying berk about an ugly-ass car.FTFY
Fixed again.
To me, there are 2 TVR models: The early ugly versions, and the later, wedge-shaped, less ugly versions. I don't mind seeing them and the owners are friendly enough, but I otherwise have no interest in them.
