Impressionable children and TV commercials

I was 11 years old.  This commercial messed me up - this crowd might say in a good way...

For JG: "Seven strands, around two, wrapped by one."

My dad was related to him! I survived it. Sorta. 

There's an older guy that I see at local shows who has a brown metallic AMX with wheel tubs and a giant BDS blower sticking out  of the hood.
 

I always thought that the car was too far over the top, but now I get where he was coming from when he built it. I'm sure he grew up watching that commercial.

I'm pretty sure I know that car, was at local shows and cruise nights I went to when I lived in the area. One day it showed up at Lebanon Valley at a track rental day and many of us who had seen the car for years  at cruises, shows, etc. watched to see what it might run. IIRC it blew the rear and oiled down the start then we waited while clean up ensued. I felt bad for the guy while others made fun of the car calling it a faux streeter etc.  Coulda happened to anyone but because the car was known as a show car it was treated differently. He just wanted to run his car like everyone else there.
