I love the Weathertech Corvette livery. Also interested to see Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin behind its wheel.
As an fyi, the official IMSA YouTube channel has been dropping good video content in the last couple of days. One of which shows the logistics and engineering of setting up the team pit areas.
Watched the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge races on the IMSA YouTube channel and I kind of miss the grass at the bus stop. It has all been paved over and visually, just looks like a sea of ugly gray. I hope it's better/safer for the drivers.
I'm sure it's better for the drivers, they won't have to contend with dirt and stuff thrown onto the track when someone gets it wrong.

Outside Turn 1 is all paved, too. I think I’d rather slide onto pavement than grass/dirt/ruts/etc. I agree, the bus stop is fun, though. :)
I got to shoot some of the MX-5 Cup race last night, even in the cold rain it was a blast to watch these cars on track.
Today's the day!
Getting a few things in order and then I'll be on my way to the track.
See you all in a few.
A shot from the HSR session last night. It's cool to see these cars on track and not just parked for show.
If you were wondering how many people are already at the track her is just one side of the garages.

Uh, point of order... One of those Mustangs was most assuredly just parked there, as was a Porsche. And the Porsche definitely put on a show of smoke.
I did get a couple nice shots of that RX-7 shooting flames while its brakes gleamed in the dark, though. That thing was wild to see - I assume it's the 4-rotor car from back when. After the letdown from the qualifying "race", I decided to stay in the RV and make omelettes this morning instead of marching in to see their race.
In reply to wae :
Yeah, a lot of cars dropped out last night.

Jimi Hendrix did it better. And it didn't need to be done again.
Get off my lawn.
I hope everyone out there is staying warm, it's dipping into the mid-40s tonight.
From a quick google-machine search, appears I'd damn near have to inherit an RV spot...that about right?

Pretty much. It is possible to get on a wait list, but my understanding is that it's basically impossible. If you can find someone who is willing to transfer their renewal rights, that can be done. But if you can find that, it won't be cheap! People do sell them each year, but that is also not cheap.
It’s 5:08 a.m. and I just got in. Photos to come.
I'm just here to add that if you've never been to this race, do what you need to in order to make it happen. I brought my 10 year old and it has been nothing short of amazing. We've met some wonderful people and both the sights and sounds are even better than you expect them to be.

Most times, I don't want to watch a video of fireworks, but the Rolex 24 fireworks are the rare exception.
Thank you for sharing (mainly because I've been in the media center since about 3:00 p.m. yesterday).
This is a bucket list event for me. It marks the start of the racing season for me. The kickoff of the year to come.
What a great race!! All the classes had 3-4 cars duking it out to the checkers. The GTD PRO was a great battle. I don't think that the corvette team will be on the BMW Christmas card list next year. May or may not have been some Corvette team work there. The Corvettes I think got sick of the BMW and payback was had. Not really how you want to see it get decided but it was exciting.
The GTD battle between the corvette and the Austin Martin was also real fun. Just enough of rubbing is racing to make it really exciting. Another case of a car moving another out of the way and then the favor being returned. Exciting stuff.
