agreed. mud can be fun, but the clean up required after even a small amount of fun-in-the-mud is seriously annoying. not to mention all the crap you didnt get off that falls in your eyes next time you're under the truck working on something.

Some advice: an automatic locker is just a tarted-up spool. I wouldn't recommend one unless your truck literally spends more time off-road than on-road. The price difference between an auto and manual locker will quickly be paid in tire costs.
See if you can get Ox Lockers for your axles.
By manual do you mean switched lockers like the OX or ARBs?
OX doesn't make lockers for Land Cruisers, to my knowledge, unfortunately. ARBs are EXPENSIVE.
Aussie Lockers, which I gather are a type of automatic lockers, seem to be getting good feedback for being automatic lockers.

An aussie is like a detroit, except that it inserts in your stock carrier instead of replacing it with a stronger one. Not bad for the front axle, but kind of a PITA in the rear axle on the road (just like a detroit).

Why would you clean it off? Maybe I'm missing the point of mudding?
I went myself and made it to the view at the top:
