So peeking on LKQ parts sourcing yesterday I can get a M45 from a 2002 C230 for under $125. This is the short, almost snoutless verison that also has a bypass valve.
Talk me out of it and tell me the nightmares of machining adapters and intake fabrication.
I think we need a forum section for exactly this sort of request.
I hear the post office near my work has 3D printers that are usable by the public. I have also been interested in Aluminum casting...
Whats your time worth? Would this add up to more or less than just putting a V8 (or other better motor) in it?
doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to do, just a plate and some tube and you have some simple in/out piping

I’ll give it a try...
Your fuel economy will suffer.
The blower noise may grow tiresome.
Tires aren’t cheap.
You’ll find the next weakness in your drivetrain.
It won’t poke through the hood or have a electro-magnetic clutch with a switch on the shift lever so your Mad Max fantasy would be ruined.
How’s that?
In reply to Keith Tanner :
The problem is that instead of that forum section we have the build thread section, which serves as the inverse.
In reply to Apexcarver :
You're close entire to be dangerous and my time doesn't count towards challenge budget.
In reply to edizzle89 :
And you're terrible for even showing one hooked up to a BP motor.

That's EXACTLY why we need it. We're great at enabling. We're poor at talking each other down. It might be good practice.

What exactly will it be installed on? Just checking as you may need two of them. Or more.

Don’t buy that, let me buy it. I want one!!
C230s don’t have a m45. They are a m62
In reply to MadScientistMatt :
The escort build is going to be less involved than the 323, the escort may see the charger for a year before the charger goes onto the 323 with the idea of twincharging the 323 as it's not limited by challenge budget contract.
I asked the same kind of thing once.
They did such a good job of talking me out of it that theres an m45 on the workbench for my miata.
Post pics and a build thread.

There's probably no way they'd sell you more than one, so why bother.
Did I do it right?

Good thing I am preoccupied with a pregnant wife and related house work!

Let's try a different approach to talking him out of it:
I'm sure that they'd sell an M62 off a Buick 3800 for about the same price.
In reply to MadScientistMatt :
I have an M62 from a 3200 in the basement already. The bypass valve and nearly non existent nose of the MB fitted unit is a plus. Also M62 versus M45 is a plus, especially for the potential (likelihood) of future twincharging..
