if you have followed Project D2D, its going to be turbocharged. So, air to air, air to water, of meth injection?

I'm space limited with like 22" frame rail width, limited height of about 20" and depth of 3" if I cut out lots of things for an A2A.

I'm leaning A2W because the space and able to place the ice tank in the bed. Plus I plan to "upgrade" to a 2.3/2.5 Duratec once I blow the Lima up.

Meth, meh with the always filling up the tank and needing ECU control for decent power.

I am putting an A2W in, using an AC condenser for the radiator portion. Packaging is small, flow path is small.

Haven't been following your project but the upsides & downsides are:

A2A: Cheap, lightweight, simple, but takes up space and cooling capacity is proportional to space taken...

A2W: Expensive, heavy, more complicated, but big potential for power if used with a separate radiator, not so much if it shares the engine's radiator...packaging could be easier or harder depending on your choice of heat exchanger.

Meth injection: Expensive and complicated but very compact, light, and powerful, no worries about pressure drop or boost line volume, but requires its own finite fluid supply.

When I asked this question a few months ago I decided on A2A aftercooling. I love the compactness and short tubing of A2W and if you have enough room you can package  a HUGE secondary radiator. In the end for me KISS won out. No extra wiring, no extra water plumbing, not extra parts to fail.

Meth is cool(heh) for specific applications, but I feel it's pretty limiting for a vehicle that is driven more than just on the strip.

A2W would be a way I would go with limited room. Find one of the CTS-V gen 2 who are upgrading their intercooler setup and get the OE parts. Pretty straightforward system with its own pump.  I can get some rough measurements of the intercooler radiator from my V if you need them.

If I do a2w, there will not be any of that silly radiator bs.... it's a dragndrive deal. Just enough water to circulate freshly added ice once at the track. If I was doing a true street deal, aka drive 30 miles, no hood lifting, and only one time filling the ice tank for 3 "back to back" passes, I'd put a larger ice tank in. I probably would add a meth kit on that kind of deal since ice melts quickly and would be needed by pass 3.

If you're still aiming for Challenge pricing, air to air will probably leave a lot more room in the budget.

It's way over because of fmv.

I bought one of these A2W intercoolers off of Obsolete close to 2 years ago and it's been sitting in a bin since then. https://www.frozenboost.com/air_water-ic/liquid_air-p-204.html

If you have a use for it let's talk otherwise it's probably going to sit in a bin for another year or so before I do something stupid with my Yukon.

Wrong outlet and inlet placing for me. Thanks tho. smiley
