My son & I were discussing the 2021 Challenge & would like to go to our first one, since we now live in Florida.
We could bring the motorhome if there is parking available - dry camping so no hookups needed.  Assuming there is space but wanted to make sure.
Also his K24 swapped e30 should be done by then. Could we bring that & try it out in the 1/4 mile & autocross?

Here's a sat view of the host hotel.  If you look at the north east end you will see a dirty turn around.  You should be fine to park there.

Might be able to park it in the gravel lot south southeast of the hotel as well.

Just be sure that it's out of sight from the Harley sales staff, an RV sighting is like blood in the water for sharks to a Harley salesperson

Another point of clarification... There is ample room for your RV at the track which is the Gainesville Dragway and you can likely padlock your race car next your RV, but, the track, in the past, has not allowed overnight camping during this event.  This means your RV has to leave the track every night.  Others, myself included, have stealthily  and respectfully placed RVs at the host hotel with no negative consequences from the hotel.

Thanks. That sounds like fun. Have been reading about it for years & now should be able to go. How much is the entry fee?

Next year I plan on bringing the van.  I'll probably get a room for breakfast and shower reasons, but I might just sleep in the van.  That's an easier stumble than up three flights of stairs after drinking at Stampie's Bar.  They are very good to us at the hotel and all they seem to notice is that they filled a bunch of rooms with racers, and there are race cars and trailers in the back parking area.  They don't look deep into who is who.

Now, I'm sure if we get to the point where there are 20 RVs back there and only 10 rooms rented, that would be a problem.

As others have said, RVs are welcome at the track but nobody can stay in them after the gates close. Fortunately that doesn't really matter, as you don't want to miss the evening activities at the host hotel and there's ample RV parking there. We've never officially asked the hotel about RVs and they've never brought it up, so it's basically a don't-ask-don't-tell situation with Best Western management. At the end of the day as long as the hotel is full and there aren't any fires in the parking lot, you'll probably be fine to park in the gravel. There are no hookups at the track or the hotel, though.

Is the portico considered part of the parking lot?

"No fires in the parking lot"

"Correct - that fire is in a dumpster"

With what you wrote above, is this K24\e30 a $2k car or are you asking if you can come and test/tune your more expensive car?

I was hoping for an RV class at the Challenge.

Have you seen the current price of RVs? Each of those would bring $10-$12k right now.

It will be over $2000. Was just asking if we could pay the entry fee just so he could test it out.

Got it- no fires, no bbq's, no lawn chairs, no pink flamingos, no astro turf, no flower pots, no kids on battery cars, no awning & totally self contained.

In Idaho we could tow 3 deep. Is that allowed in Florida? Was quite a train when we went to the dunes towing the Vitara which towed the atv trailer.

Also, and confirm this with Motorsports Marketing, there isn't a "Spectator" charge because there are generally no spectators. That doesn't mean exceptions can not or will not be made. It really involves policing the people who are not tied to a car. It's easy to reprimand a team for a persons actions harder if they are not registered with a car.

normally I think spectators are free. In 2020, we had covid to contend with, which is why there were no spectators allowed.

Correct. Spectators are traditionally free, but weren't allowed in 2020 due to covid. We're hoping for a normal $2000 Challenge this year.

In reply to Tom Suddard :

To be fair to all, define "normal". These new ideas don't go over well with the regulars.
