Can I keep it? Pleeeze?

It's a 1974 Jensen Healey IT car, current logbook and pro built roll cage, no engine or tranny but everything else is there! Price was right: just pick it up and take it with me. Yeah, that means free.

Of course, there's a reason for the dirt cheap price. If you think you don't need a driveshaft loop, maybe this will convince you otherwise!

Nothing like a blank canvas. I have no intentions of going road racing, rather I plan to AX, hillclimb and TT this car so my options are pretty open as far as powerplants. I'm thinking a nice 13B nestled in there will provide ample thrust and entertainment. I am open to suggestions, though! <img src="Photobucket" alt="" />

Beat me to it. A turbo 13B would also be cool, as would an SR20DET.

Oh yeah, that floorpan will buff right out.

302 might tend to be cheaper then LS1... (and might fit better)

I don't know the weight of LSx combinations, but my gut feel says it'll make the car too nose heavy.

13B is nice.

Note the Guinness overflow can.

A 4cyl twin-cam would be in keeping with the original motor (SR20, CA18 etc.), but my vote still goes out to 13BT. Or even an angry N/A 13B.

Yeah, I'm keeping the Guinness catch can no matter what. I may have to replace it every so often.

So far, rotary is leading.

What's the weight on that thing? Looks almost any powerplant mentioned will net a very good power/ weight ratio.

It weighed in at 2240 with driver. I'm thinking it should be pretty easy to shed about 100 pounds, but getting it down to the E Mod 1700 pound lower limit is gonna be tough. And possibly pricey.

I thought the similar weight was one of the reasons for the popularity of that swap into FDs.

FD's had twin turbos. The engine and all the stuff for the turbos made it weigh about the same as an LS1. A 13Bt should weigh less than an LS1 and the physical dimensions of the engine should allow it to keep the entire engine behind the front axle, unless I'm looking at things the wrong way.

a few that haven't been mentioned yet:

those GM v6s that everyone likes so much, or a ford 2.3 or volvo turbo.
