I found a 1996 Neon ACR coupe about a mile from our office. It has a bad engine, which has been removed and the car has been sitting inside a shop for a year. The owner knew what it was, so I couldn't get it for scrap value, but for $500...it's not a bad deal (the transmission is worth 1/2 that)
Pixors/etc soon. It'll probably take over the NYG's spot, as it's rust-free, stick and in much better shape. Not to mention it's an ACR.
Per
D00000000d!
2.4 swap! Start looking for the 2.4 out of, well, anything Mopar, but the 2001-era PT Cruiser is a natural. It's got a better head design than the late-'90s Cloud Cars. You won't believe how the extra torque wakes a Neon up.
We'll see..I'm looking at the 2.4 swap page now.
I think it's honestly going to come down to which engine I find first.
Per, if you are driving by Lansing on the way to work I might have a later cloud car 2.4L or two available.
Too bad about that whole 2600 daily mile commute, that will wear on you. (OB Fla>Middle of Mitten>OB Fla)
Please tell me your new one is not red.
Ok, just sold the NYG for $425 plus a bunch of DOHC engine parts, Mopar ECU, header.
This is getting towards challenge level budgeting weird.
stratus, cirrus

Thanks for the clarification
Neon4891 has it...they've become hard to find around here...and sticks are impossible to find. I stumbled across this one...and jumped as soon as the owner said yes.
My R/T was in great shape when I practically gave it to my sister last year. Now it's one more Neon on the fast-track to the junkyard.

Same here... $500 cars around here are rusty hulks...
