Jalopy? No, 36 month, $1200 a month car payment stimulus check

If we get $1200/mo for 36 months, I'd assume by month 37 the world has gone to complete E36 M3 and I'll need something that can get me most anywhere.

The $1200/mo will have paid for a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Willys with the EcoDiesel engine (it'll run on all sorts of fuel, in theory, right?) and a few other options.

Obviously the answer is the cheapest Land Rover I can find and the rest in maintenance.

Good point, but if the world goes to complete E36 M3, I don't think you need to worry about whether its paid off or not :P

I'd use it all to finish existing projects in glorious fashion, $1200 in mods a month sounds nice. 

I have a lot of things I want to do to Susie.  Paying a paint and body man to fix everything would be the first bit.  Then there would be a lot of fabrication and self-made tools.

Would it take all of that money to do that? Nah, but I would try.

I would look for something that could be a good daily driver and also be a decent autocross/track day car.

62 years old and I've never had a car payment. 
A stimulus check is no reason to start.

I'll indulge in the game even knowing that if this moves past 3 months we'll be in a 28 days later/the walking dead/Omega Man/Escape from LA scenario. 

I'd buy a used RV or used Mercedes Sprinter van to mod and continue my world travels in that. 

If this goes on 36 months I'm gonna be rolling in an MRAP.
