I just noticed how wide it is.  There is a reason for the three clearance lights at the top of the grill.  As far as I have noticed the only non-dually pickup that needs/uses them from the factory is the Ford Raptor with it's wide body styling

It is visually improved.  It's a hard sell not including a V8, however, even if it is only a 1/2-ton.  That said, people lease pickups (and apparently everything else with wheels) to drive to malls and soccer games, so no big deal for the average not-actually-a-buyer . . .

It's ugly, but not Chevy ugly.

I don't think it is too bad.  Also remember this is the TRD Pro version most likely, so the other trim models might not be quite so "aggressive".

Every generation, grilles get bigger and windows get smaller.  It just makes no sense.

Because regulations?  Because China?  Because drugs and alcohol?  Who knows?

Is this what it feel like to get old?

Television and radio make no sense anymore, music is unidentifiable as such based on the metric of what is familiar to you, not a single auto manufacturer makes a vehicle that would tempt you into a dealership and heck, few of them actually seem to make cars anymore. The roads seem scary because everything has grown so large and aggressive looking.

No wonder older people are cranky.

Toyota apparently fired all their truck designers and let the forklift guys design the new truck. But they did it bass ackwards.

It will likely be the most reliable, highest resale value, least prone to rust truck on the market. It will set new records for Tundra sales. Other trucks are just as or more ugly than this without the aforementioned perks.  In 10 years, maybe I'll buy one third hand. 

Seems like 1/3 of those grills are usually non functional anyway.   It's just style.  And I don't particularly care for it either.  But by the time I'd consider buying one (when they're 5-10 years old) they usually have grown on me a bit.   Or maybe it's that the latest and greatest are even more hideous, so relatively speaking they aren't bad anymore 

Why is it that car bumpers have to be able to scoop up pedestrians more safely but trucks and SUVs have the pedestrian safety standards of a rolling chest freezer?

I think the Tundra/Tacoma are the only trucks it makes more sense to buy new.

I still think the 2007 Tundra is too big.  I'm 6' tall and the bed heights and reachover are too high.  But as new trucks get bigger, old trucks look like the right size.

I don't think it's too bad looking, in the context of the modern pickup.  I like the texture on the black plastics, too.  If you're not going to paint plastic trim, then texturing is practically free.  I bet that trend takes off.

The TRX has them too, for all that mall-dominating travel.

Iirc, during the diesel wars of the early 2000's there were all these rumors of a diesel Toyota coming to U.S. market. I blame the success of the Prius/ EPA. One side note, drove my dads 17'  dadge Cummins with Aisin last week, what a nice transmission.  I bet it's even nicer with a load behind it.

Anything I'm likely to say could lose me my job.
