My wife and daughter are out of town that whole weekend, and I'm thinking about taking my 10 year old son up to the Mitty for the weekend. Anyone here taken their kids up there? Fun stuff to do? Do they offer discounted tickets for kids? Is it OK to have kids ride along for the parade laps or touring laps on the track?
I googled around but didn't find much on this subject. Thanks!

If your kid is into cars---- the Mitty will completely blow his mind! Yes, you can have him aboard for the Parade and Touring laps---and if you haven't been on track at Road Atlanta, the elevation change is a real eye opener!
The really cool thing about the Mitty is how open and friendly the entire event is. The pits are totally open, so your kid will be able to get up close and personal with Can-Am cars, old F1 / Champ cars and of course all the legendary Nissans / Datsuns that will be there this year. If you ask nicely, I'm sure a few of the competitors will allow your kid to sit in the driver's seat and make Vroom Vroom noises!
It can get loud when the cars are on track, so you may want to bring ear protection.
Bring him, you'll have a great time. It's a very family-friendly event!
I wish my kids (all girls) would show an inkling of interest. Until they do, The Mitty will remain my annual 'guys trip' weekend. It's totally family-friendly.
I wish my dad would have brought me to something like this when I was 10-12. Camping in the red dirt and running all over the infield at Road Atlanta for a weekend is one of the highlights of my year.
Great feedback- thanks guys! I've done HPDE and a Lemons race at RA; sometimes I still wake up in a cold sweat thinking about turn 12. My son is still under the illusion that my Miata is not only a rare exotic, but a high performance race car. He will lose his mind if I can take him for a few laps on the track in it.
You'll be able to get out on track for Free at the Mitty during our Parade laps. The speeds are moderate, but it should still give the little guy a thrill!
