TIL knife autocross is a thing
I prefer gun autocross: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Dnfml2MDCw&t=523s
It has it all: having fun by spending the least amount of time doing the thing, way too many classes, rules controversies, random people getting yelled at in grid.

Oh indeed I have a couple A cards from the gun autocross people in Limited and Open. Man that got expensive in the last few years, though, even loading my own ammo and shagging brass. When you're tossing a hundred bucks or more downrange even at a local event, Hoosiers start to seem reasonable.

It is indeed
Every year we draw closer and closer to Freestyle® becomig recognized as an Olympic event.
There is a show called "knife or death" about this. Much of it is unintentional comedy from overweight LARPers trying to move quickly.

I took a serious look at USPSA a while back. I had some friends who were doing it. I decided against another expensive hobby where it was difficult to involve the kids. Otherwise, it looked like fun. I thought the similarities to autocross down to the people complaining about the shooting equivalent of seat time per dollar was hilarious.

As a former Desert Eagle owner, an hour with the finest professional in Amsterdam is less expensive than an hour of squeezing off rounds at the range. You'll be plenty sore the next day either way.

USPSA matches are a lot of fun. Very cool and welcoming group of people. I showed up with a bone-stock M9A1 and had a great time. Highly recommend once the kids are of age.

Yeah guy guys in states allowing full-auto weapons like to brag about how manly it is, leaving out the bit about what it costs to hold down the trigger for even one second. Check out some of the "Big Sandy" videos on YT, where once a year, everyone gets together to fire full-auto everything - and field guns, no kidding.
