Yes, it's early. Yes, I'm jumping the gun a bit. Yes, I'm very excited about it.
The first ECTA event at Maxton is on April 2nd and 3rd. It seems early to start getting ready, but it's only 4 months away. GRM guys will love this stuff...lots of creativity, home grown hot rods, new cars, old cars, fast cars, slow cars, etc. It's a very cool event.
So, other than myself and the Nelson clan (who I'm sure will be there), who else is in?
I may show up. Should be fun.
Got the answer from google

Maxton, where?
Sorry...Maxton, NC.
More info at www.ecta-lsr.com and www.landracing.com/forum/
If you are a motorhead and can get there, you should go.
I classify cars this way:
ho-hum
peppy
hot rod
brutal.
Since my trip to the Texas Mile in october (where I saw hats with this on it) I now have another category: "Stupid fast"
My V8 Miata is "peppy" - "stupid fast" is about 100 mph faster in a mile.
One hundred miles an hour faster.
Here is a stupid fast car with a fancy dismount:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS1NU6xjTSY the fun starts at about 238mph!
If you can get to Maxton, don't miss it!
PS, the driver did not die, as far as I know.
In reply to DavidinDurango:
I plan to hit Maxton this year with a small bore bike, but probably won't be ready that early.
Still waiting for the rule book before I get in too deep.

Yes we're planning on it. Currently building our car. We have a ton of small projects to make this happen for Maxton in April.
Not to highjack the thread, but we need some help finding some parts. We need a set of 3.08 gears for a Firebird, Camaro, S-10 type 10 bolts 7.5". I have a set of 3.73s if that would help someone.
Fire in the pipes Sunday. Calvin's first engine. Loading tonight.
I'll be there Sunday with a couple of friends. May ride down Sat. by myself.
That, my friends, is the rare and decidedly unnecessary CANOEis-unwantedis.

I usually try to go to Maxton at least once a year and have a car being built for that place. I'm not sure how many people know it, but Maxton will be off limits to racing in 2012. News at http://www.ecta-lsr.com/ Maxton is a very fun event to attend with all kinds of cool and crazy cars. Weather this weekend is supposed to cooperate.

As mentioned earlier, that's great. Good work Calvin!
I'm very disappointed I can't be down there also. Have a great time...take pictures for us!

Pulling out now. Last item in truck is the team uniforms. One guess what that is

Checked in with Andy earlier to see how the day went. Apparently, his trans blew violently around the 3/4 mile mark while on pace to what should have been a record setting run.
Thankfully, he did not get hurt and was able to keep the car straight.

The yellow '09 Challenge car. It was a powerglide.
Ouch! I forgot they were running the Coupe.

Ouch, glad to see he had a shield around the trans, now he needs to add one around the flywheel. I have a spare powerglide if he plans to stay with the powerglide ($50) but the last trans I sold him was the Muncie that blew up at speed last year.

Pants didn't stand much of a chance either.
Carbon Fiber Flexplate shield is second to last picture. Note the 2 hits. And the Muncie I got from you dmyntti was sent to the grave two events ago. 3 in a row has been very painful.
