Just as the title states... I have a line on a 1982 Buick Regal Sport Coupe. It's the real deal, one of 2022 built in 82. In decent shape but needs floors and a motor. (Spun bearings and overheated). The price seams right but I know little about these things other than they have the odd ability to make my pants tight when I see them. Educate me please!

I love the two tone on those. If the engine is shot I would look into going with an entire setup form the later grand nationals, get rid of the carb and get an intercooler. I don't think they will ever be valuable as a collector to worry about putting it back stock.

Don't LS swap it!

Don't listen to this guy.. throw a junkyard 5.3 and 4l60e in it, find an 8.5 rearend out of T Type (3.42 gears) or 442 (3.73 gears) and drive the wheels off it..

I had to look it up but this is a 1982 Buick Regal Sport Coupe:

Speaking of Buicks, I came across this in my local CL today. When was the last time you saw a '79 Buick Century? As a 2 dr this body was sort of sporty but the 4 door always looked a bit odd.

'79 w/13k miles asking $1.7K

Would be much cooler as a Turbo Coupe.

A million years ago (1996-7ish) a guy brought a 1978 Buick Regal sport coupe into the little garage I was working at. Carb fueled turbo 3.8 and factory fresh, the thing had like 8K miles on it. It was immaculate. Looked like this except it was a pale yellow color.

The Regal is my favorite G-Body. Followed by the Grand Prix, Monte Carlo and Cutlass in that order.

Don't LS swap it!

Have no fear, if it were to find its way into my garage it would remain a Turbo V6. Now I cant promise that it wouldn't turn into a GNX clone.. Picture of said vehicle..

Oh, you have to buy that. Those are very, very cool. I would NOT turn it into a GNX or GN clone, at least in terms of appearance. I'd build a 3.8 Turbo and keep the exterior Grandma Fresh. Sleeper!!!

At the time when my 81 Regal NA 3.8 blew up, just so happened that in the back 40 was a 1971 Olds 98 with a towing package. According to the castings it was a hard valve seat 320 HP 455. All I had to do was shorten the stock motor mounts and it dropped right in. The stock trans lasted about a month before the TH400 went in.

It still had single exhaust and 3:08 open rear end. With out any aero aids the rear appeared to start to slide around at about 135-140. I only know the speed from a T-bird turbo coupe that was next to me. Very fun car, really miss that one. I left the motor bone stock, nothing like a smooth quiet idle to really fool people.

My mopar friends even liked it. I just told them it had a V8, they expected to see a Tree Fity Chubby, didn't see the wall to wall valve covers coming.

I approve of the 3.8 turbo, as a past owner of a GN. Really wish I had done more with both of my Regals.

Buying it would give me two cars with very low production numbers.... Is that an argument for or against...

Now I want to put an LS1 into that.

Although that story about an Olds 455 in one is great too, and I would consider a 3800 Supercharged like in my Regal GS too.

Well, unfortunately for me my reality is that I cant take on another project no matter how much/long I've wanted one of these. So.... I'm going to post a like to it in the classifieds in the hopes that on of you crazies will buy it and save her.
