its easier to work on in a lot of ways. The interior is probably 2x better quality. There's no nasty footbox weirding up your drive. Id say the MPV has some pluses vs the astro.

I have a weird itch for obscure, vans, and Mazdas, and there’s a 1995 sort of close to me that’s a one owner car with 200k. Timing belt done. 1.5 k.

I honestly don't think I've seen an MPV of any kind for several years, other than once at a pick-and-pull yard.
EDIT: just looked on marketplace and apparently people still have them, for sale, cheap, but they're all the 2nd-gen ones.
but the closest 1st-generation one I can find is about 500 miles away
I have a friend with a 1st generation MPV on RX7 Turbo II wheels, which has been manual swapped, and it's pretty sweet.
