I'm 6'-5" tall, 35" inseam. Cars don't fit. Even a Chevy suburban I used to own. Headroom and legroom are obvious concerns, but short seat bottom cushions are a major downer for "the tall". (Buying clothes also sucks, but they don't rise to the level of commitment/cost of a vehicle).
I know mini coopers are supposed to be surprisingly roomy.
What else? This is a thought exercise - so don't limit this to any type of vehicle. I like interesting sporty cars, and trucks, SUV, sedans, convertibles.... no motorcycles though - those just are not made for people my height.
My friend who is about the same size comfortably drives a Subaru FRS. I'm 5'10" and when I get in I can't touch the pedals with my tippy toes. The rear seat is completely useless, but I was amazed at how much seat travel and room you get in those cars.
Well, not a dodge ram. I am constantly amazed that at 5'11" my head is a couple inches from the roof. And its not like its a small vehicle.
A Captain I sailed with was an Icelander. They would probably consider you "short" over there. He said he had to try on cars like pants, to see if they fit. He said that a Volkswagen Bug (original) was surprisingly good for tall people and fit him fine.
I'm still looking for a highly "seat-modified" Miata to sit in. Because the answer isn't the answer, in stock seats...
Anyone near ATL with one? I'd love to try it on.
BMW E36 sport seats are the best I ever found in a factory seat - surprisingly tall friendly, with the adjustable thigh bolster.
One time I tried to talk a local recaro dealer into letting me demo an orthopedic seat for a week (I offered to buy a set of rails) but they said "nope". I thought that was a bad decision on their part.
In reply to OHSCrifle:
I dont know of any other street miatas like mine with the tunnel notch.
I'll be in ATL in April for the Mitty. Offer is still open for a drive in my NB.
All CRXs are surprisingly roomy.
Seat Rail Extensions for many (but not all) vehicles.
Not a Second Gen Tacoma, I'm 5'11 and only have a few inches between me and the roof, although I sit almost perfectly upright

VW's - I know this board hates them, but they fit big guys well. I am 6'4" and about 330 and I drive a Golf.

My pal Seth is 6'8" and drives a Transit Connect. Not because he needs a van, but because he fits.
Scion xB has a surprising amount of room for a compact car.

Second for the Scion xB. The VW new beetle is also supposedly quite good for tall people as the peak of the curved roof is right above the driver. I modified the seat rails of the in laws Mazda5 and the seat now goes back so far and it has so much headroom stock that someone taller than you would probably fit well now.

I'm 6'2" and fit in my sister's Mini Cooper just fine. Plenty of leg- and head-room.
I drive a 2011 Accord - 6'4" - tons of room for me. As I look for new cars the Colorado and Nissan Frontier had crappy head room. My 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer with a sunroof sucked for headroom.
This dude at my church who is 6'6" loves his Chevrolet Equinox.
Oh yeah - big guy, little car.
My Honda Fit is extremely roomy, I'm about 6'3" with a 34" inseam. The seat cushions are a little short for my long legs but otherwise it's shocking how comfy I am in there with plenty of extra headroom and legroom.
I will be replacing the Fit soon though and I'm curious if I can find anything else that doesn't sacrifice comfort too much. Not having a sunroof really seems to help.
My buddy austin is 6'4" and drives turbo caravans for comfort, he also manages to fit in his charger and omnis though.
A lot of my extended family and my friends are quite tall, so here's a list off the top of my head.
An E36 with the adjustable thigh supports.
Volkswagen New Beetle.
Infiniti FX.
Nissan Cube.
Scion tC.
First generation Mercedes CLS.
C6 Corvette (not sure about C5s, though).
Mercedes SL (R107, R129, R230).
996 Turbo.
Neon SRT-4 may be tolerable.
BMW E24.
BMW 645ci and 650i.
IIRC, Z4s should also be tolerable.
Fiero is hit-and-miss. Works for some, not for others.
R53 Cooper S.
BMW X5 4.6is and 4.8is.
Nissan 350Zs and 370Zs are also apparently not terrible if you're 6'4" or so.
Hope this helps.

I am 6'4" and also have 35" inseam. I have fit very well in Saab 9-5. I just bought a 14 Acura TL and it seems to be very comfy. I have only had it week. I really fit well in my BMW X5 as well.

Don't buy a 996. I'm 5'10" and my helmet is always touching the roof. My e46has lots of room and the adjustable thigh bolsters

Legroom has never really been an issue for me. They fold in the middle.
Seats designed for an average height human, on the other hand...

been there, paid the VW tax. Great seats! Definitely cars that sit upright, like VW, Saab, Volvo are good candidates.

my folks leased one for 3 years, so I got to drive it a couple times. I definitely fit in those.
