Further updates for anyone still following along (or perhaps arriving here in the future via Google search.)
www.vintageglass.com was a bust. They quoted me for the windshield, and explained that if I wanted to order, I send them billing and shipping address plus email and phone, and they procure and check the glass, and then contact me for payment before shipping it out. I said great, and sent the required info. After a little while with no contact, I emailed to request an update on my order and ETA, at which point they informed me that I didn't have an order because they sold the glass to someone else!
Needless to say I was frustrated! No notice of low stock when they quoted me, and no notification from them that they couldn't fulfill the order! I'm not sure what their business model is, but in my line of work, when a customer seeks you out and says, "hey I really want to buy something I can't find" and it is a product you have/can get, you thank your lucky stars and make the easy sale!
I asked vintageglass.com when they could get more glass, or if they knew anybody who might have it, of could make it, they told me that there wasn't any more, and that they could make me one starting at $3000.
Thanks to the tip from Knurled, I have had good luck so far with Ricky Evans Motorsport/ www.heatedwindscreen.com Good customer service and communication so far. The quote I got may fluctuate with exchange rates, and didn't include taxes/duty, but it was roughly $680 to my door, or $420 to the local airport....waaay cheaper than I thought it would be. I'm probably going to pull the trigger this week.
