Nothing from a Cologne that I recall but there is a bunch of freaks in Europe that could have. I DO know the 4.0L variant was supercharged through FRPP, Vortech and others.
I didn't know there was anything production from Ford that had a turbo'd version of that motor.
I know there was some kit/supercar that used to use a twin-turbo version of the Taurus 24v, though it's escaping me as to what it was. I thought it was the Mosler, but they use Chevy motors.
Apparently there's some South American Ranger variant that had a turbo 3.0 V6. I don't think there have been any factory Ford turbo V6s sold in North America until the EcoBoost.
Reverend, I think perhaps you're thinking of the Noble M12?
That isn't a "kitcar" though it is a cottage-built car that is just as fast as a GT40 on Top Gear's track, which is amazing given how civil it is on the street.

That's it! Yeah, I knew it wasn't really a kit, but I thought it was one of the cars where you import the car and the motor separate for legal reasons.
There was a turbo capri in europe, i think one was a ford werks capri and one was by a tuning house called zakspeed i think in germany. Im not sure if they used the colgne or essex engines. There were some videos of them on youtube, one from an old top gear episode, it looked pretty fast. I think cosworth made one also.
i wasnt finding much either in the way of factory units. it seemed that almost everything ford had a turbo on was 4 cylinder. now i know it isnt just me! do you know of any GM or chrysler units that were ample enough to provide some boost for for a 4 liter v6?

Zakspeed was a 4-cylinder, Aston Martin Tickford Capri was a turbocharged 2.8 Cologne V-6 from around 1980.

interesting info, with the limited production numbers it isn't likely to be found in junkyard though! it will probably be easier to modify something else to work than to find something prepackaged in this case.

Weren't the Tyfoon and Syclone trucks both turbo 4.3L? And the Buick T-type and Turbo Firebird were turbo 3.8s.
Again, not stuff you're likely to find in a junkyard, though...
Are you against going to twins? There's not a lot of factory single turbos for 4.0L, but there's a LOT of factory turbos for 2.0s. All the turbo chrysler/dodges, the Ford turbo 2.3s, and pretty much every turbo japanese car fits that bill.
Chrysler developed a few prototype single turbo SOHC 3.0L V6 motors. And of course the Mitsu 3000GT's with their twin turbo 3.0L
I would agree that two smaller turbos from a 4-cylinder would work well on a single 3+Liter V6. BTW, the Mitsubishi TE04H turbos on Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth 1989-1992 2.5L turbos are typically thrown away by the Turbo-Dodge crowd because they are incredibly small (really sized more for a 2.0L, hint, hint)
