So I just put Sylvania Led headlight bulbs in my CRV, should I maintain the weather seal in some fashion or does the heat sink need to be exposed to airflow?

I would priority on the weather seal. if the two don't jive together you will need to fashion something so that you have a functional weather seal. lamps are truly sealed - they have breathers for avoiding moisture but if you have a huge hole its not gonna work out and moisture will accumulate in the headlamp or some other water entry situation.

Thanks for the input. I think you are correct and I will put my ingenuity to work. Too dark and cold right now darn, might be whisky o'clock.

I should note I worked in the OEM lighting industry for about 5 years, I have some facts to support my rants! lol

Any recommendation which brand of LED are good for upgrades? GTR brand keeps winning on the YouTube comparison but diode dynamic seem to be popular too

some are $50 and some are $200. Without being in the industry - how do we know what to buy?

appreciate any help

I'm 6 months into 2 pair of Hikari with good results. I like that they were clickable you ensure beam cutoff is good.

I love the idea of LED headlights, but I see too many people running around blinding me to even consider them. Maybe on the Abarth with it's projectors, but I doubt I would even consider it on the Disco, even if I am running eurospec headlights

I agree with you about blinding lights, just not sure why some are so bright. The Led bulbs I used are in exactly the same place in the headlight, the headlight wasn't touched and the pattern seems to be the same. What I have noticed is a change from warmer light of the original halogen to a more white appearing light that is brighter. It reminds me of when I first ran H4 Halogens in my Minis in the sixties. I could rant about giant pickups I guess.wink

What year CRV do you have?

Curious to know because our CRV, a 2006 model, regularly blows the H1 bulb. Installed meticulously and surgically clean. Appears to be a thing with this gen CRV...

It's a 2013, never had an issue with the lights aside from the fact that they didn't throw enough light.

Look inside the stock bulb. Many have a shield on the low beam filament for cutoff.

Light must be shielded from the lower half of the reflector on low beam.

Any light that gets around that shield is less light where you need it and scatters into oncoming drivers eyes.

You'll need to log in to post.
