Ok, got the Jetta towed back to our office on Saturday. Close inspection shows that the engine is still salvageable and it only has 100k on it! Other than that, it is thrashed! So, slowly ordering parts. Got the racing seat coming by the end of the week as well as my coilovers. My co-worker has all the parts i will ever need to rebuild this. Taking out the interior and cleaning it and putting it back together. Dont let these pics scare you... Give me a couple of weeks and it will be a completely different car!
so did the bumper come off before or after you got it on that crappy dolly?
very much looking forward to seeing the endresult on this.
what are your plans for paint / exterrior?
the bumper was already off, so we tossed it in the bed of the truck. I am planning on doing the "Storm Titanium" as the majority of everyone i asked seemed to like that color. Inetrior, just cleaning, replacing various bits and pieces. Want it to double as a daily and a cone killer...
Interior pics?
How did the PO fill in the valley for the body trim? Was it done in a decent fashion? Interesting how that deletion changes the car's complexion.
I think I'm going to put up a CL add to buy a bunch of interrior VW pieces for a 2002 Jetta, but parts will probably fit from Jettas 1998-2004. Negotiations on price, will pick up. I need:
wrapped my A and C pillars in suede last night. A yard of suede (they didnt have the dark color) cost me $9. Have a ton left over... Looks like they came out ok, just need to trim them to size...

thats stage 2 NOS, stage 3 gets you into the 8s
HOLY OFFSET BATMAN!!! yea, had the battery on a tender since last night, threw it in on my lunch break, runs like a champ! Its throwing a code for the MAF since the kid before me wedged a VR6 MAF on there, but no check engine lights, no oil leakage, no coolant leakage, runs and idles like brand new!!
Its got the 1.8t in it, didnt pay anything for it. I traded a buddy of mine a Passat wagon for this and a Vw Caddy.
That suede looks good dude! I can't believe you beat me to it. I gotta pick my suede and houndstooth up so Megan can start wrapping my doorpanels and whatnot. Can't wait to see it Saturday!
got my race seat in yesterday, waiting on the seat bracket to arrive...
Just got my coilovers in today. Waiting on my poly bushing to show up so i can knock out the suspension in one swoop...
Starting to sand down the panels tomorrow...
some more
polished up the headlights, put them back in. Need to go over them one more time, have yellow Laminx coming for them...
put my stock wheels on it for now since the BBS's were dry rotted and losing air...
interior shot, after much cleaning and still cleaning...
has the later trunk lid that i like, next to my co-worker's Mk4...
