To put under it, so it doesn't drag the door handles on autocross. Because:

When I was in college I had a 1969 Torino GT notchback (essentially the same as 1968 with very minor differences.) The notchbacks were always a little unusual, most people went for the fastbacks. Mine made it to 200,000 miles before it died from terminal rust.

I mean, that is the exact definition of attitude right there.

Also, relevant to this thread, because, hey, look, Rivieras!

Agree that relaxed big block American muscle has its place, but back in period, those engines tended to come in over weight ill handling packages.

Not completely though. I own a fibreglass bodied car with big block V8 and 4 wheel disc brakes made in the 1962-1965 period. It actually handles quite decently.

No, it isn't a Corvette. Guesses?

You guys might dig this.

I saw this lovely Eldorado at a car show a few weeks back.

Now, I know what you are thinking... "Eldorados are FWD! That's no fun!"

Not this one.

1000ci and 16 cylinders of pure, luxurious, twin-engined insanity. Also dig the mural on the trunk of the lady licking blood off a sword. And do I see flame throwers underneath?

I had a 62 Thunderbird with a 390 for several years. Loved the way it looked, but it was an absolutely hateful car when you tried to drive it anywhere. Never could get it to run right.

indeed.

I'm sure that thing hustles, but stopping must be harrowing.

I love the big caddys. I have had two as well as two 98s.

A living room you take with you. I actually liked driving the 98s. Get them on the highway and you would eat up the miles.

I had this car but more gold color.

My parents used to have a 1970 Olds 98 convertible when I was born. It was green with a white interior, and it was enormous. It had the 370hp 455 and my dad said it HAULED. He also tells me all the time how awesome it was in the snow because of it's immense heft, and how he was pulling tow trucks out of ditches in the Blizzard of '78 (those of you from New England know what that is).

I used to have weird dreams when I was a kid of me being buckled in the back seat while the car autonomously drove me around. Either I was strange, or I was predicting Tesla's Autopilot by 30 years.

Either way, they let a junkyard haul it away back in 1987 when I was 5 after the engine developed some issues. They had replaced it a year earlier with a 1986 Olds 98 Regency Brougham that was like a space ship compared to the '70 (it even talked!!!). That was the 1st time I saw my mom cry.

Gross t-bird. Never got those. The early 60's ones though, yes please.

I'm partial to gm stuff in general. One of my favorite huge cars was my 71 caprice 2 door hardtop. It was too far gone to keep in the long run but i had a blast for a couple years

I am in full support of this thread. Let me prove it....

Here is my 69 88 that I had a few years ago. Sold it to buy my wife her wedding ring. This is actually the second 69 88 hard top I had...My neighbor had one like it and it just sat for many years when we were growing up. We saved it but it was too far gone with rust by the time we got it. So we got it running and I took out the engine and trans. That was back in the 80's. I still have the transmission.:

Speaking of big American iron.... heres a picture of my quadravan before I blew up the 460 engine:

 photo IM002908.jpg

Here's another van that someone gave me. It had a 6 cylinder engine and a 4 speed. I cut it up and scrapped it. Wish I would have kept the engine and trans though:

Here's a picture of my 76 ford wagon that I used to have. I wanted to make a Nascar style racer out of it (yes I'm delusional) but I blew the engine in this car before I could do it. Not a spec of rust on this thing, loved it:

 photo 110_1015.jpg

One day I came out of my apartment to find that someone had run into the back of it. Not a scratch on it but the remnants of a Toyota Celica were left near the rear bumper.

Here is another one of my favorite ex vehicles:

 photo Picture256.jpg

Oh, and did someone say "98???" Here's my 69. I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't driven it much in the past few years, I keep it in storage, don't even have it registered. Ill get it going someday...

I bought a 1969 Cougar convertible this spring. Not land barge huge but has been fun bopping around with the family. Manual three speed, manual drum brakes, manual almost everything else too. I'll try and get some pics up later.

Another one that people have forgotten about is the Buick Electra 225. When I was a kid the people 2 houses down had has a medium blue convertible that I wanted so bad. Just a big land yat but I taught it looked cool!!! I am not sure of the year but probably was a lat 60's early 70's.

This is it I think.
