Sounds like the consensus is that the magnetic shocks will either fail under warranty or last a long time and that they are not all that expensive to replace if need be.
Then you aren't familiar with the colloquial phrase:
"If you have to ask, you can't afford it."

Agreed.
Funny it's a subtopic of this thread, but I was taken aback by the response.
The post struck me only as a humorous way of saying "probably expensive, perhaps comically so" (incorrectly, it seems. Hooray!), and in no way a troll or slight on the OP.
Shrug. A little benefit of the doubt goes a long way.

I am. I just never considered it an insult. More of a chuckling reference to how expensive stuff gets. It sounds like some folks take it to mean "please leave the nice-stuff department, Mr Lowbrow", but that's a new usage to me.

That's one of those funny things about a text based medium, it's really hard to convey subtle inflections.
That's one of those items that has always held a negative inflection in my experience. As a result, I took it the same way as z31maniac. Probably one of those goofy things about growing up where I did and my years at a private college.

Well, I guess we'll never know unless outasite comes back to this thread. Either way, I'm glad that the fancy shocks are not all that expensive.
In reply to T.J.:
Yea I actually was surprised that they came out to that. Looks like it would cost about the same or less than a KW coil over setup.
I wish I had a thing for American muscle because it would be so much cheaper. Sadly it's all goofy import stuff where the weirder it is the better.

Same here. It was always intended as "run along insignificant one" around here anyway (I'm in Oklahoma).

Also very happy they aren't too expensive, even though it sounds as though they are pretty reliable.
Although I'm sure cranked up to "Race" and actually being used at the track and using the curbs will effect longevity, which is why I was curious.

I want the aftermarket to develop magnetic suspension systems for non factory equipped platforms instead
That's how this shock started. No GM didn't develop it, it was an aftermarket product that couldn't get traction until GM/Delphi bought the rights. I wanted them soooo badly, but couldn't afford them and no magazines or anyone would test them to see if they really worked.
I'm sure GM has refined the technology a lot since they were out before (home) computers and they probably never envisioned what a computer could bring to the technology.

Link? Everything I have read is the SS 1LE is getting magnetic, it's the ZL1 1LE that's getting the DSSV.
In fact, I even mentioned so earlier in this thread.
SS = 455hp NA LT1
ZL1 = 650hp Supercharged (whatever the designation is)
Sorry, you are absolutely correct. Sorry brain fart on my part, ZL1 1LE is what I intended to write in reference to the DSSV shocks.

A story on this from a friend of mine whose parents was went to a dealer to buy an expensive car. They asked how much it was and the highbrow salesman told them if you have to ask then you can't afford it. They went to the manager and told them what the salesman said, found out the price and wrote a check for the whole amount. Salesman was looking for a job later that day.

I'm not making $8/hr asking if I can afford a Patek Phillipe watch. Troll elsewhere.
Sorry, no disrespect intended.
Let's derail and make this about financial savings and ramen. I make my own ramen at home. It's authentic. Even though I'm not Japanese. A good tonkotsu broth, or shio or shoyu broth. Hokkaido style.

You can go to a Ramen spa in japan. Bathe yourself in giant tubs of ramen.
I heard about it on NPR.

That sounds deliciously disgusting. Go for a blood pressure test afterwards?

Now I want gennie ramen. Damn it
Well since I'm not a peasant, I guess I'll go have sushi for lunch instead of ramen.
THERE!
