Hey guys, what say you fellas about this turd I found on Craig's?
It won't be for any form of transportation. It literally will be driven and parked by my house so I can pull the motor and bell, the rest will be sold and then crushed. http://salem.craigslist.org/cto/5012949582.html
Sounds like a plan to me as long as it runs and drives! Might even talk him down a little!
I say to sell the shell for $300 or so to someone that wants to build a Lemons race car.
Give it a really good Italian tune up before you pull the engine (if you can get it started in the LS400). We picked up an LS400 as a donor for the Wreck Racing miata years ago. When we compression tested it after getting it back to the shop, it was almost zero on one cyl and like half what it should have been on two others. We started it, warmed it up, and revved the crap out of it for like 20 minutes. Compression check again and everything was back to factory spec.
Also, I don't know ho different it is in your area, but that seems a little much to pay for a donor. I think the one we picked up was $400(?). I see them selling for about that occasionally still (with lots of body damage, or some other major issue that doesn't affect the engine).

That's the lower power 1uzfe. Good for boost, kinda crappy stock. Hold out for a VVTI unless you're boosting it.

Whatcha gonna do with the motor?
It's going in an '85 Celica. I found another for 550$. My worry is it making it home. Some of these are over 250 miles away, and the mountain pass I have to use to go home goes from sea level to 4000ft and then 3400ft. So it needs at least a working auto and motor. Unless I can rent a tow dolly.... Which adds to expenses... Try to do this whole swap for under 2k. Am I dreaming?

Do you have the transmission and adapter (I assume the plan is manual swap)? The W58 and R154 are both getting pretty pricey and the adapter plate, flywheel and clutch aren't that cheap either.
