The window regulator on the daughters beetle broke again. When I tried to push the window to the top by hand it was super tight. Anybody ever lube a window track, and if so what did you use?

I clean out the old gunk and use a thin coat of the red Mobil grease that I use on pretty much everything else.

When in doubt, silicone lube is always safe. That's what I'd use.

Being a convertible, Miatas get lots of gunk in the window track and need to be cleaned and re-greased fairly often.  This stuff seems to be the "go to" for that job, at least as far as the innanets are concerned.  I've always had good luck with it:

Shin Etsu Grease

Yes. A bit expensive but a tube should last for a lifetime.

You'll need to log in to post.
