Damn you GRM! Bit the bullet today & took a 2 for a ride. Walked out with a 12 Touring, black manual. Goodbye Si, and now it's time to sell the 88 325ix. More to come.

nice man! i unfortunately drove one a few weeks ago and absolutely fell in love with the car except for the horsepower level, though when i borrowed my company's 2000 Golf TDI i was reminded JUST how slow a modern car can actually be so maybe i'm making too big a deal about it?
of course i know if i get rid of a couple cars to get a green 2 for DD they'll come out with a mazdaspeed 2 for sure...
serously man you have NO excuses anymore to not autocross so man up! Greg did!

Purchase. Change your avatar, slacker!
It's slow, but part of that is us being used to modern performance.
2012 Mazda 2 0-60 8.9, 1/4 mile 16.6
1990 Mazda Miata 0-60 9.0, 1/4 mile 16.5
1987 325es 0-60 8.9, 1.4 mile 16.5
1985 VW GTI 0-60 8.9, 1/4 mile 16.7
2001 Focus ZX3 0-60 8.6, 1/4 mile 16.6
1977 Ferrari 308 GTB 0-60 8.1, 1/4 mile 16.8
1980 Porsche 924 TurboS 0-60 9.3, 1/4 17.0
Lots of quite good cars have lived in this speed range and have been great to drive.

At least we had one last fun ride in the Si. Can't wait to see what that thing will do with some upgrades in the twisties!
Welcome back to Mazda ownership. I still love the 3 S Touring I bought back in October. No complaints yet!
firing up the crack pipe at my local Mazda dealer................

I understand that it cost that much to put those together, but that doesn't mean that they're worth that much. They spent a ton of money getting them to work that they'll never get back, I'm surprised they don't know that. I do really like the seats in the white one though.

10 grand & it's yours, rust & all. Seriously I love the Starion, wanted it since I passed one everyday on the schoolbus 20 years ago. It would take a ridiculous amount for me to part with it.
In reply to MA$$hole:
Haha, welcome to the club. Funny how these cars have a habit of leaving with you when you don't expect it. I had to clean my Si out at the dealer because I totally wasn't planning on leaving without it.
Black's a nice color, too. My friend's is a black Sport, and I largely wanted another color just so I wouldn't look like I was ripping him off! Although maybe you should've gone silver and we could make it the official GRM Mazda2 livery!
Speaking of which, I need to see if I can come up with a GRM decal that's lower-profile than the normal bumper sticker ones. Although maybe that's a bad idea considering I shoot for a different publication... (Not really a competitor since it's online-only, but still...)

Tint the windows and then go with a black die cut sticker to achieve the tone on tone effect.
In reply to jrw1621:
Yeah, the die-cut ones were what I was thinking, I'd just need a smaller one than GRM sells. I want to put a few small vinyls on the blacked-out area around the hatch glass and none anywhere else, so they need to be in like the 3" size range. GRM, one of the Laguna Seca track outlines, and maybe Mazda Owners Club of California are all I want, but I probably have to avoid the GRM ones as long as I'm working with this other publication, since I'll be doing the same kind of writer-owned long term test coverage that GRM is doing with theirs. Having a GRM sticker in the pics might not be a great idea there...

Oh the GRM plate frames are already on it.
2nd choice was white. I knew they had a black one though that was in another lot. I actually drove a green one, couldn't live with that color though. Before I even test drove it I went to the salesman that I've known there from when I had my 91 Miata & 08 MS3 & asked to sit in one. I knew pretty much I would get one unless the A-pillar was as much a blind spot as in the 08 Si.
And yes for a subcompact it is rather impressive compared to the rest of the current market. I took the road through the hills on the way home and te road feel is great for what it is.
Oh yeah, I should just get the frames, I didn't even think of that. That way I can just take them off when I need to.

I've got 4, 2 on the 2 & 2 on the Starion. I believe Silverfleet has a handful too.
I'm not a fan of decals so the frames were a great solution.
Haha, just ordered myself a pair. (And finally subscribed while I was at it!)
I was thinking I'd put the Corksport ones on it when I get their intake and rear torsion bar stiffener but GRM is way cooler and I don't need to advertise all my parts.
Just a heads up, anybody who owns a 2 and isn't reading about Andy Hollis and his development of the 2 for STF should be. It's good stuff.
