So much for my plans to build a mid-engined monstrosity. A deal I could not pass up dropped this in my lap. 250k miles, dings and dents galore but solid... runs and drives fine. Cost about the same as a new Playstation. I am going to pick it up tomorrow. I expect it will be gutted by Monday when I can go pick up enough steel to start the cage.
I just can't find deals like that down here. (Dallas area) Great find and have fun with it.
haha! That is awesome! I want updates!
Looks like a great car to start with! I think a build thread's in order.
I haven't quite decided what to do with it...
- Spec E36 / GTS-2 ?
- LS-1 conversion street car?
- Buy snow tires and just drive it?
I have an S52 in the E30 that could be dropped right in as well as some Bilstein + H&R race springs out of an M3 in a box somewhere to make a decent track car pretty quickly.
I guess I should decide because now I have to sell the caged E30 chassis, this or the 911 since I'm one parking spot short.
What's up with the Rampage truck?

I have a Chevy 2500HD but no Rampage... perhaps you have me confused with some other spotted purple creature.
whatever you do, please post pics. So many of us live vicariously through build threads

WalterJ,
Since its Black Friday and I'm in a purchasing mood. I'll give you 10k for the 911, 11k if you remove that small table hanging off the back acting like a rear spoiler. Have you grown tired of the e30 already, could you really get this e36 moving as quickly as that e30 around a track?

Make it $18k and I'll include the "shot bar" on the rear deck, a set of corded tires and cassette deck! I haven't made the emotional leap to really sell the 911 yet but I'm getting closer. The trouble is - the minute it leaves I'll want another one. I wish I could afford to race it because it does it no justice for me to cruise to work in it. I took it to Lightning in October - it would be a FANTASTIC track car. It is a blast to hoon around in on street tires.
This 325is could be faster than the E30 of Doom but not really on my budget. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of a spec racer build. I've got a stock M50 2.5L motor on the floor that is pretty fresh. Then all I need to do is sell a pile of crap to cover the cost of the spec E36 suspension/exhaust bits, build a cage and put a seat & belts in it.
Then... I have to decide which to sell and which to race. Ridiculous speed or close competition. I have overlooked the part where the Mrs does not know about this yet - so I might need a place to stay for a while :)

go spec, door to door is your goal anyway. plus easier to get your money and sell a spec when you get tired of it. dump the e30 for a quick sale, sell off the 911, and go all out spec e36 budget will be fully funded.
might be time to move out of the development and get something with a nice barn and some acreage for parts cars.
As far as Julie goes, doesnt that car trailer have heat in it? grab a sub 20 degree sleeping bag and a small propane heater......

I do. Once you hit 50 memory's the second thing to go.
I doh't remember the first....
Good Find, I have a 95 325is Automatic . It still jumps railroad tracks and can go around Summit Point pretty well even with 212k. I would put that in ITS. More competition, same amount of parts, plus the Spec E30 suspension sucks. Get the engine refreshed, strip the car, seat, cage, coilovers, ram air intake, and you have a competitive ITS car. If you want it faster, then get the engine built with an ECU, headers, then exhaust. Run Toyos initially because they don't die, then put some Hoosiers or Hankooks on when you wanna go really fast.
Awesome find, I'm in MD if you need any help.
