I've been seeing these more and more and starting to like the earlier ones. They look like a usable SUV. Anybody have any real world experience with these? I am usually an anti-mercedes guy.

my co-worker has one, it rides very nicely and has a good size to me. he is not an off road guy at all so if it is capable i don't know.
GLK is on the list of cars i would consider buying for my mom if i was baller. Not sure if that helps or not.
I think they are pretty cool.
They have good reviews. Apparently the european version has more legit off-road chops. I seem to recall one review asking why, other than the three pointed star, one might buy one over a Forester, but they do depreciate a good bit used.
I lie them but know next to nothing about them. I can't help but look at one and think of it as a Mercedes version of a Forester.

I've always thought they looked cool, and aspired to own one. IIRC they can tow a fair bit, too, right?
In reply to RossD:
You can get one from the 70s for much less than the Forrester. Not like they have really changed the design since then.
