Hi. I find myself with a new to me 1.6 NA street car. Haven't had one of these as a street car in decades. I also haven't owned such a low powered car in decades. Most of the street cars I've been driving are in the 300 hp / 3,000 lb range and I've always used 200 treadwear tires on those.
I don't want a super grippy tire like a 200 tw tire on this car. I want some slightly lower grip tire so I can break the tires loose and play with the car and grip.
Any recommendations on treadwear and tires given the above?
The Flevas on tirerack looked interesting at a 300 tw. The Kumho PS31 look interesting too and have a 460tw.
Tire size is 195/50/15 for the stock NB 15x6 wheels.

The FM fleet cars tend to run Flevas for street use. I think they'd suit your use case.
My brother is happily running the Flevas on his NA Miata.

Firestone Indy 500's and BFG Sport Comp 2 both hit the 340+ range but are still fun as well as good in the rain. They are both great performance compromise tires I have used on multiple vehicles.

Why not the Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02.
It's available in the right sizes, considered the gold standard for a wet autocross tire, good in the dry, and can withstand some track laps.

This! Amazing tire in all conditions and not too grippy, but grippy enough for street usage.

I had a good experience with the General G-Max RS for similar intentions.
Edit: Nevermind, no 15's.
The Continental ECS is my favorite tire but the grip levels aren't too far from a 200tw tire. I've taken them on the track and was really impressed with the pace I could keep with them. For lower grip than that, I had good luck with the Hankook Ventus V2 all seasons. Cheap too.

That was my concern about the Contis from my reading. Plus they aren't available in 195/50/15 for the stock 15x6 wheel. I havent enjoyed the feeling of a fat tire on a skinny wheel.
And I should have added that my brother is running the 195/50R Fleva on his NA. Wheels are from an STO/’96 M.
