Its happened twice now. Going highway speeds and the battered top on my 91 miata has decide to lay down on the job. I've looked at the adjustment in the two latches and are both turned in as far as they go. Will a new top fix the problem? What else can i do?

Check the "nose" on the latch where it nestles up against the striker plate on the windshield. They wear or compress over time (I'm not sure which) and can be easily and inexpensively replaced.

Or stick a piece of cardboard in the latch itself to tighten things up.

One side is cracked in half and one side is missing all together. Thanks for the help Keith.

That would do it!

I have to check my driver's side carefully, to make sure it's fully engaged with the lip on the windshield side. Creates an awful clacking sound at highway speeds if it's not seated properly.
