Many years ago I did the one day school and it was awesome. We spent a little time in the tower going over basic stuff and the rest of the day was in the car.
They had a handfull of "stations" set up, the class was divided up into groups and you rotated through the stations. Before lunch you did a lap of the "autocross" course they have, you can see it in the upper paddock. They used the times from that to put everyone into groups for the lapping portion after lunch.
For the lapping session we did a follow the leader thing where each person did a lap behind the instructor for their group. When your lap was over on the back straight you went to the back of the line and the next person did a lap behind the instructor.
It was a lot of fun and I learned a ton.
I've never done that school, but I have attended BMWCCA and PCA club schools there. They often use pro instructors, and follow pro-school curriculums, but the cost is much less. You do need to have your own car, though.
Wow, Bondurant and Skip Barber are at least double the cost. Crazy, but better cars, red, variety, etc.mk
Never got too excited about the school since they could not bring themselves to use rear wheel drive cars. Am I wrong?
The same basic principles apply, no matter what the driven wheels are. The lines might vary a little, but it's still about balancing the car with brakes, steering, and acceleration.
to each his own but if a school can't offer what I want (not sure what the ratio is but I would assume more race cars are rear drive, no?) then I'm not going
I know a couple people that have done it and really enjoyed it.
Actually one bought his friends RSX off of him and uses it as a track car now.
