CHP inspection, check.
Smog test, check
Brake and Light test, check.
Insurance is already in the works.
Now it's back to the DMV to finish the paperwork and get plates. Oh, and there's a book to finish!
Midi says, "Hrumph, all I hear is a bunch of words, how about a ride?"
More pictures desperately needed.

There's pages of pictures!
Ooooh almost time for track videos!
Got any plans for adding downforce? You've probably figured out that this car will be faster with some.
Wow, Kurt, that's just awesome. Colin Chapman would be proud.

Yes, There are mounts both front and rear for wings; with the low weight and high power they aren't for looks. It's already an intimidating car (for me) and I haven't even driven it but round the block. The wings are something of a separate project though and will likely happen after the first track even, so I don't expect to displace Schumacher any time soon :)

Because the car is little! They're standard 7" lights. I understand that there are smaller ones but was concerned that I might not pass the light inspection for installed height. That turned out to be a non issue so if I can find some smaller ones with the same type of mount I'd be interested.

In reply to kb58: I got my pedistal-mount minis from England, but frankly, their beams were kinda wimpy. There are some really tiny lights that they use for motorcycles. Two of those'd do the trick, and change the purposefull/quaint ratio a bit.
But I don't want to be mister negativity. It's a tight, well-executed build, and you should be proud. I'll be very interested to hear how things go at the track. Very successfully I'd recon.
Congrats Kurt!
I've been following the build from the begining and am looking forward to the book. This will very likely be the Locost for the next generation. Locost 2.0.
Congrats, Kurt! Finally, somebody managed to pull off a middy that bears a strong resemblance to a Seven but doesn't look awful. Quite the contrary, actually -- Midlana looks great!
P.S. If you're willing, please provide details on that paint (manufacturer, code/name). Thanks!!
Easily the best independent car blog on the web. Love love love midlana!
I hope youve got youre gopro mounts already mocked up for the first track day video...if you dont post some video soon, there will be villagers with pitchforks and torches youll have to answer to...

We saw it on a current Toyota Tundra and really liked it, especially in the sun - Spruce Mica (paint code 6V4)

I have license plates!
Insurance is in limbo for an interesting reason. They claim that they aren't issuing any policies to anyone in the "affected area of the earthquake." My reaction was, "what earthquake?" Seems we had a 4.9 out in the desert last Monday that hardly anyone felt. However, insurance companies apparently think that a small quake "might" proceed a big one, and it appears that they don't want anyone to buy coverage and actually get a payout. Nice... that restriction is supposed to end this week. We'll see.
^Nice...pre-existing conditions, now for property.
