The writing was on the wall since Pebble Beach concours and all the other main concours cancelled over a month ago ,
They are going to have a "Private" Pre Historics for the local racers but that is not going to put much $$$$ in the kitty , the new organizer had his power play backfire ,
Hopefully it will be back next year.

..and yesterday the above was announced. I'm not sure the reason for the Historics cancellation was compleley due to the pandemic. I suspect the lack of people to actually run it might have been a bigger factor.
no doubt it was both.......
I hope the people that paid to race get their $$$$$ back.....
It's also possible that the relationship goes the other way -- that they knew they were going to cancel the Historics and as a result felt like they could be more aggressive in the negotiations than they might otherwise have been. I mean, it's been obvious for months that there was no way they were going to happen, every other pro event in that time frame has been cancelled.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Will there ever be racing at Laguna again? It's a real question....
In reply to Dave M (Forum Supporter) :
It's not looking too hot, is it?
I did get the impression that the new track management pretty much assumed that the volunteers would be magically show up like they did before. This part from the letter quoted in the Racer mag article is pretty damning:
"It became apparent during these negotiations that there is a lack of understanding of volunteers and a lack of respect for the volunteers."
That's not something you normally write as part of a negotiating tactic, at least not unless things have gone to pot already.
