Selling a car on the internet somehow brings out some of the most interesting people alive, and their offers can range from unnecessarily shrewd horse trading to downright scams.
Out of all the offers you’ve gotten in the attempts of selling a car, which ones stand out as the most unusual or…

I've always been on the other end, having traded a 4 pack of craft beer for a car that I had running 45 seconds later.

The worst was having a car for sale for $2500 and a guy looked and left then called me back at 6am to pick it apart and offer $500 because he was too big a Bob Costas to do it in person. I loudly explained that fact to him.
never really had any weird offers just shiny happy people who are too scared to lowball in person so they call the next day to do so

It's been a few years but,
When I put any cheap car on Craigslist I would get offers for guns or weed or both. Never get that on marketplace. Just broken video game consoles.
My late used car salesman FIL legendarily took a small tugboat as a partial trade in on a car.
I was offered several 'rare' geckos. I have cats. I declined.
Being a family friendly site I won't spell it out but I informed the seller it was my wife's car and she wouldn't be amused. Also blocked the number (craigslist days).

Was it an Amy type situation?
Not a car, but I was offered "collectible" Billiards posters for a riding lawn mower this spring.

I did take a pair of shotguns in trade for some wheels once from a craigslist guy
Helped a attorney sell a bunch of cars for some Russians ex mobsters. Got invited to their house in Laguna Beach for a party that night.
I did not go.
I had a C4 that some kid offered a guitar and a Mazda mx6 for. I took it figuring it was community service to help a high school kid have his own corvette. It was a bad deal on my end but it's done now.

I was offered a Rolex for my Spec E30. I declined. It was probably a real one, knowing the guy now (he bought another SE30 after I sold mine).

Weed (it's legal here). I didn't take the guy up on that offer.
A microwave for $100 off the Mini Van. I actually did the trade as the microwave was brand new and the same model we have but ultimately took the van back as the couple kept complaining about the van. I'd explained the known problems with it but the kept calling..............so I gave them back the cash and the oven. Basically I just wanted the van gone; thankfully the next person had all cash.

I bought a '64 Chevy pickup for $100 and a 22 rifle.
Drove it home, and it never ran again :-(
Not too crazy but a guy says this about buying my '86 Pontiac Grand Am SE POS;
I'll give you $1700 or $1800 for the car.
Me; I'll take $1800.
Then he realizes that's not how he meant to say it.
I called about a stalled project S10 once. I said almost nothing while he told me a story about a love triangle, took $1000 off the price, and offered delivery. I couldn't say no at that point. Parted it out over the next month and made some money.

i traded a 66 mustang basket case for a 95 mustang and an ak. Turned out the 95 had blown head gasket while sorting out the the toggle switch fan. Repaired everything , made the car right put it up for sale . The previous owner bought it back and traded the 66 back plus cash . The 66 now ran . Sold the 66 for cash I came out very ahead on the long drawn out deal.
I traded the ak for challenge car rear suspension parts.
I was giving away a car on Craigslist and a guy asked if I could "do a little better" on the price.

Probably was a relative of the dude who wanted me to deliver a free OEM NA Miata exhaust to him, 200 miles away, and wasn't even willing to cough up the cash for the Diesel.
I once sold an old 2 door Trooper for $1200, a small flat screen tv and an FBI pellet pistol that looks like a 1911. Kid seemed happy and I still have the pellet gun in the garage.
