I just purchased a 1989 Ford Mustang Gt and the temperature gauge is not working. All of the other gauges work on the dash except for the temp gauge. Any ideas on where I should start looking in order to fix it? Thanks in advance.

The gauge sender is located at the driver's side front of the intake and will have a red with white tracer wire going to it. Disconnect the wire and turn the key to "on" and the gauge should show cold. When you ground the wire and tuirn the key to "on" it should peg hot. If this happens it confirms that the wiring is intact and points to a bad sender; if not it indicates a wiring or instrument cluster problem.

Agreed.
In reply to JKleiner: I found the sensor and the wire is attached. I will try to ground it and see what happens. Thanks for the response.

Did just as you said and the gauge pegged all the way up. Went and purchased a new sending unit and it works like a champ. Thanks a lot for your help.
