I lust after a new Mustang, but the cost has kept me away. I still need a 4-door sedan to do Dad things with. But this would pry the money from me every month, as long as it is a real Mustang, not a Charger.

That is a gorgeous render. Given the dearth of sedans with a V8 and manual transmission, it seems like it would sell reasonably well.
I heard rumors about this. I think it could be cool. There's gonna be a Corvette SUV, so a Mustang sedan doesn't bother me. I do like the idea of calling it a Falcon!

i wouldn't assume it'll be much cheaper than the CT4V blackwing. That is based on the camaro alpha platform that has a 6cyl twin turbo where a v8 would have fit. When Ford charges the same for the darkwing as BMW charges for an M2, i would assume that a 4 door v8 mustang that is as capable on the track as the smaller blackwing will likely cost just as much as the caddy. Also Ford thinks they can compete with BMW (see M2 and Dark wing costing the same) so value based pricing would dictate that its competitors would be all the BMW 3 and 5 sized sport sedans.
i.e. if you want a 4 door mustang, buy a blackwing :)
I would love to see the Falcon name attached, but I won't get my hopes up.

I would love a mustang sedan. Doesn't even need the V8. 2.3L is fine. But I want the same chassis.
Same with a Camaro. I know you can argue the ATS is a Camaro sedan, but it was a base-camaro drivetrain at a MUCH higher cost.
More RWD/manual trans cars please!

It should be Falcon, but let's be realistic. There's no way Ford is going away from the "Mustang" brand with this car. The name is too valuable. So valuable they put it on an electric crossover. I predict it'll be something like "Mustang Mach 4" or something.
It's not as bad a use of the name as the Mustang Mockery, er, Mach E, but I still say call it the Falcon or Torino.
The branding of the Mach E as a Mustang was so negatively received I can't imagine they'd try to pull a 4 door Mustang on us. Falcon, Fairlane or any Mercury name no longer used would be better. Or hey, how about coming up with a completely original, new name? How novel!

What do you mean? Everyone was talking about it! So much free advertising :) And those who bought one weren't turned off by the name enough to not buy one, even if they grumbled. I'd say that's a total win from Ford's perspective.
I am a big fan of a 4 door Mustang (and Camaro) if you want to save the segment.
Remember back when the sentiment was you couldn't do "real off-road" if it wasn't a 2dr Jeep CJ5/7/Wrangler. The advent of 4 dr versions saved the segment.
I'd be willing to bet that 2dr Wranglers make up less than 20% of current Wrangler sales mix. I was amazed that the Bronco was offered in 2dr but I think that was still a hold out of old thinking to prove it should be taken seriously.

I remember when the S197 was released and there were rumors that there would be a Lincoln version. A Mustang-based Lincoln? I remember the pure outrage that the purists were screaming. Make it a sedan with the Mustang drivetrain and a manual. There hasn't been a hotrod Lincoln since the MKVIII.

Among enthusiasts, yes, but the general public doesn't give a toss about what's a "real" Mustang. Hell, I don't, and I've owned 5 of them.
Anyhow, if the name was that badly received, they'd have changed it in the four years since the car came out. In fact, the Mach E outsold the "real" Mustang last year.
