Anyone have a set of lowering springs? I think this car needs a little low but new springs puts me out of my budget and I'm certainly not going to cut coils!
dude, cut coils. We did for lemons on the Amazon. it works fine, just don't be an idiot. Cut with a cut-off wheel or portaband, rebend with very little heat. Good to go.
How was the ride quality? This is my DD so I'm looking for more than "just low" unfortunately.
Well, it was a race car, so I don't really know, but they were something like 30% stiffer and still maintained tons of travel in both directions. As you know, the ride height is crazy high stock, you're not going to lose any ride quality you'd gain by swapping in a stiffer, shorter spring. Other than shot peening them when you're done, how do you think they make stiffer springs?
Fair enough, I guess I'm just worried about riding the bump stops, made that mistake with my MR2 and it sucked.
Just don't go crazy, only take one coil off at first and see how you like it. Then trim a half coil at a time until your happy with the results. I've cut the coils on almost every car I've had and never regretted it. The most I've ever taken is one and a half coils though.
I'll try it if I can get my hands on another set of springs. 1" lower would be a godsend for this car. Right now it's E30iX high..

Dig the parcel shelf speaker install. Neat work!
Thanks, I'm pretty happy with the way it worked out, just enough cubic feet for the sub!
I'm contemplating spraying all the window chrome black. Thoughts and opinions? The chrome is not in great shape so I'm not desecrating hard to find pristine pieces or anything like that..

Someone here must know for sure, but I thought the trim on a 122 was stainless? Is there actually any rust on the trim or is it just dull?

I think it'd look good. If you're real concerned you could use the Plasti-dip rattlecan stuff that peels off if you don't like it.

The side trim and VOLVO letters on the front are stainless, but the window surrounds are Chrome. I've cleaned it off the best I can but it's starting to react and bubble in tiny spots.

Plasti-Dip is an excellent suggestion!

OMFG, looks like behind my house in 1970 (except for the Nissan!)
You had a sweet house! The Nissan is the neighbors, I prefer a bit more soul myself... Perhaps there's an Alfa in my future...
Polish the hell out of the trim and clear coat it? Should give 5-10ft results.

Are you selling your car? Or is someone using your pics? Seriously-

Considering the post date of the ad and the post date of this thread, that's prob where he bought the car from and the seller never took it down
cool build, love those cars, looks like a lot of fun!

Well I just flagged it in any event.
The 122 has never really pushed my buttons - too bad, because my sister would have given me hers. I do dig the wagon though. It's unfortunate that vintage rallys often disallow wagons and trucks.

Man I love the 122. It is one of 3-4 vintage cars I want. GT6+, 65 Mustang Coupe, and 67 elderado are the others...
Hahaha you guys found the Original ad! Congrats to the Sherlocks among you!
Anyone know of sway bars that would fit this car? I'm not willing to shell out the cash for new IPD stuff
One of my windshield wipers broke off 1/2 way through the arm. I need a new arm. Anyone got one or know where to find one?
I got some iPd sways on eBay for my 145 by searching every so often, usually you can find them in good shape for much less than new. Turbobricks seems to have the most active classifieds, so you might look there too. Don't know about the wipers.

PM VolvoClearingHouse. Seriously. He has everything.
Your original idle speed question- before you spend the rest of your life learning how to adjust SU carbs wrong, take a look at the spring perches for the mechanical advance. They tend to move in over time, allowing the timing to advance, which increases idle speed, which advances the timing more...5 minutes with a small flat blade screwdriver may do you more good than adjusting the carbs wrong.
It actually turned out to be the carb linkage itself, a screw worked loose over the years. I honestly thought I would have been more complicated.
Also, it's been converted to a single webber.
And, I wish the car was 4x100. These just look so "right"

Well, that changes everything. They have a whole bunch of different ways to berkeley up!
Actually, its a pretty major improvement to driveability. Speed, not so much.
I like driveability. The speed thing will get fixed at some point hopefully. Anyone want to donate a v8 to the cause?
