So Ive decided that it is now time to start giving my 94 miata some love. Bought a full exhuast, flying miata springs and koni yellows. What class will this put me in/should I run for auto-x?

Torsen rear end or not? Without torsen, my guess is STS. With Torsen I think STR but I'm not positive.
I'm not an expert on classing, but from locals an NA with coilovers exhaust and torsen falls into STR.
Yeah, you want to be in STS but the torsen puts you into STR, which is where the ND and S2k play. If you just use the shocks and exhaust I think you can run E-Street, where you'll have a better shot at being competitive.
Sounds like what you're doing is building a fun car that you might autox once in a while. In that case, who cares what class you're in? Build the fun car, don't compromise it for an arbitrary rulebook.

That's exactly what I'm doing. In no way is my car a C/SP competitor, just happens to fall there. Although a '90 Miata with a '00 BP-4w (which I have and plan to swap in) is the C/SP hot ticket.
One suggestion for autocrossing: Yank the rear sway bar. Did wonders for my car.
In reply to Fitzauto: yeah, you'll be STR for now with those mods. You can also do an intake and a few other things.
Seats will be a nice improvement. NA/NB seats offer little support when you go fast.
STS wheel limit is 7.5" wide. And a 205 tire.
STR allows a wider wheel and you can bump up to a 225 tire. Tires and wheels will be your biggest bang for your buck.
Brakes? What pads are you running? I run Hawk HPS front and HP+ rear. It seems to balance out the inherent front bias that Miatai leave the factory with.
In reply to KyAllroad:
Problem with that is im wanting to run 245 width tires. Have some wheels that are sponsored but are 9" wide.
In reply to Fitzauto: It's a good class but be aware that if you care AT ALL about PAX you're gonna get hosed in CSP.
This weekend I ran 7th raw of 55 and PAXed 21st. The Street cars get to move up in PAX, Prepared move down (except FSP, their PAX is weirdly soft).

Yeah, this. PAX for C/SP is absolute garbage. But like you too, Fitzauto, I'm the only C/SP car that shows up with any frequency. Actyually, I'm the only Street Prepared car in general.
In reply to KyAllroad:
Im in the same boat with my Z. It runs in BSP now and gets hosed by PAX. Ill be changing to to SSM so Ill have more competition here locally.
What works on the street can be a real hindrance when classifying for autocross. It used to be very common to upgrade a 1.6 NA by installing amongst other things a RX7 VAF and 1.8 injectors along with headers, lowering springs and 15" wheels. That "upgrade" got me into CSP and while I won a regional championship in that car, I basically outpointed the opposition by 1) showing up for every event and 3) finishing in the top 3 when the better cars showed. Luckily they generally never showed up at the same time.
